Ponte Vecchio is a family run trattoria open since 2007 with a small, local feel. We are a husband and wife team with Leo running the front of house and Alice hiding in the heat of the kitchen.

We offer a selection of traditional Italian meals coupled with more modern plates that show off Italian ingredients in an exciting, inventive manner. We change our menu frequently; celebrating the best l

Hello everyone,

A quick update to let you know due to a few behind the scenes delays, we will be trading for the next few weeks and are now taking bookings up until Thursday 11th June. During this time we will only be able to take cash or BACS payments, as our card machine has been disconnected.

Alice is working on one last menu, which will be on the website tomorrow night. Yes the beef will still be available, as will the lamb ragu with smoked ricotta and gremolata. I’m trying my best to persuade her to keep the Venetian spiced cauliflower, but you’ll have to watch this space.

THANK YOU

to everyone who has reached out since yesterday’s post. It has been absolutely bonkers trying to respond to booking requests, and we feel so grateful and absolutely floored that quite so many of you are trying to come and see us.

We are now full for sit down meals each weekend until we close but we might still be able to fit in a few takeaways.

🍝 If you’d like to book to sit down or have a takeaway, there are weekday slots remaining, including this evening.

While Leo is busy managing the diary today, Alice is in the kitchen prepping what might be the very last batch of everyone’s favourite - her 16 hour beef short rib ragu. This is a kitchen task that Alice has been undertaking every fortnight for at least 10 years. Nothing has ever matched it in popularity or compliments and the sudden realisation that it’s not ever going to be made again, is quite a momentous one. Crikey.

Dear friends,

As many of you are aware, earlier in the year, we made the decision to put Ponte Vecchio on the market.

It’s time to let you know that we are now entering the last few weeks of trading, and while there is no confirmed final date, we are not taking bookings after Saturday May 23rd.
We will let you know if we are able to trade after this date, but in the meantime, if you’d like to have a last supper with us, please text me 07813109449 to book a table.

Many of you will, no doubt, remember my brother, Roberto, who was the chef at Firenze, our ‘parent’ restaurant for 16 years.

After a two year valiant fight with cancer, he was cruelly taken from us last Thursday, 28th November.

I am sure that you will appreciate the pain suffered by his children: Maisy, Mansi and Luciano and our parents, Bruno and Diane.

Culurgiones are a traditional Sardinian pasta stuffed with potatoes, mint, pecorino + orange zest.

We will be closed next week, Monday 11th - Monday 18th April.

Despite the lockdowns, it’s been the busiest two years we’ve ever had and we urgently need a proper break.
Holy Week is normally one of the busiest of our year and we are sorry to have turned away more of you than we can seat already, but Alice is suffering with terrible burnout and we hope that a week without work will do her some good.

We aren’t able to get away to Italy as we would have liked, so we will still be available to take bookings but we plan on a few day trips, flasks of tea + planting at the allotment, a full week of getting into bed at a normal hour and for the first time since we opened Ponte Vecchio, a meaningful Easter period with our children.

We are open this week as normal, with very limited space on each evening.

Roast leeks, almond + garlic sauce, crispy sage + confit garlic pangrattato.

Simple, early spring food. Celebrating glorious alliums across the whole menu before the British vegetable growing season really kicks off and we can get asparagus and all the other bright green favourites in a few weeks time. I’ll be complaining about a courgette glut before I know it (I hope).

New decorations are slowly going up across our dining room to welcome in the spring.

Our new menu starts tomorrow and is ready to be viewed on the website. Still doing our very best to keep our ingredients as local and seasonal as possible - only a tiny handful of things are now from outside Europe and once they’ve disappeared from the larder, they won’t be replaced until we can find a suitable replacement or alternative.

The mess in the kitchen isn’t as pretty as the dried flowers littering the restaurant, but it certainly smells good.
