The Witching Hour 🎃 Halloween 👻 31/10/26

So Halloween is slowly starting to come together and we’ve got a really good day & night planned this year.

We’ll have all our usual Italian food, cocktails, w**e, spritz, coffee & alcoholic coffees, and plenty more, with the garden open until 9pm.

We’re also hoping to add a bit of magic, illusion and mind reading in to the mix too 🔮 and we’ve still got a few more things we’re working on.

Obviously it wouldn’t be Halloween without dressing up, so if you’re coming down, try and make an effort 😂 Spooky, glamorous, weird or completely over the top we don’t care. Best dressed wins a bottle of Prosecco.

And you don’t have to be coming for the whole night. Pop in for an early coffee, come for some food, have a cocktail or two, or stay and make a night of it.

A little bit of a special one this FRIDAY🥂🎵🎶

It’s Evie’s last shift with us for a little while before she heads off to university to start her next adventure at vet school! 💃

She’s not escaping us completely though 😂 Evie will still be working with us whenever she’s home and has some time away from uni, so we’ll be seeing her back behind the bar in December.

We’ve also recently said goodbye to Rihanna, who has been part of U Tagghiu Anticu since joining us in May. We’re incredibly grateful and thankful for all the hard work she put in while she was here and wish her every success in her new career and whatever comes next for her. 💖💖

So this Friday we thought we’d make a bit of an evening of it.

We’re open from 3.30pm, with the garden open all day, and from around 5.30pm onwards there may just be a little bit of live music from the one and only Paul Garbett 🎶

Nothing too serious, just good food, plenty of drinks, a bit of music and a lovely send off before Evie heads off to uni.

We only have a couple of tables left inside the red room, so if you’re planning on joining us for food and drinks, please try to book if you can as we can only do so much food at one time and bookings help us make sure everyone gets the best service possible. The garden will be open until 9pm as usual for anyone wanting to pop down and join us.

✨ WE’RE HIRING FRONT OF HOUSE ✨

We’re looking for someone lovely, confident and reliable to join our little team at U Tagghiu Anticu in Helmsley.

The role is mainly working the floor, and occasionally helping out with kitchen duties looking after our customers and helping with food and drinks service.

Wednesday / Saturday
5pm 10pm sometimes a bit later
Around 20 hours per week

We’re a small but busy venue and things can get fast paced, especially at weekends so we need someone who’s happy to get stuck in, works well as part of a team and enjoys looking after people.

Experience is great, but for us personality, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important. Full training will be given.

We serve Italian food, coffee, w**e, cocktails and plenty more, with a lovely mix of locals and visitors throughout the year.

Applicants must be 17+ due to the later working hours.

🍁🍂As the autumn and winter months start to creep in, we’ve got quite a few new things planned over the next few months.🍂🍁

So from the end of this month we’ll be adding some new dishes to our food menu, including our own homemade soups and tiramisù, using our family recipes that have been passed down through the generations 🇮🇹 We’ll also be adding some lovely alcoholic coffees which we think will be perfect for those colder afternoons and evenings ☕️

We’re also going to start doing Italian food & w**e pairing evenings, aperitivo nights and cocktail & food pairing evenings 🍷 just good Italian food, lovely w**es and cocktails and a nice way to spend an evening with friends.

And with the darker nights coming back, it seems only right that a few of our old speakeasy favourites make a comeback too 🍸 Some of the cocktails we used to make will be finding their way back onto the menu, including our Smoked Old Fashioned 🥃

Our Cocktail Masterclasses are also available to book. We actually did our first one the other day and it went down an absolute treat! These can be tailored around your group and you can add some lovely food alongside it too.

And then there’s Christmas… 🎄🤶🧑‍🎄🎄

I know it seems ridiculously early to be talking about it, but we’ve already started taking bookings for Christmas parties, work get togethers and private celebrations.

For smaller groups, you can have exclusive use of our cosy Red Room, or if you’re planning something a little bigger, we can also offer full venue hire on weekdays/nights. Christmas parties, corporate get togethers, birthdays, private events just have a chat with us and we can put together food and drinks to suit what you’re looking for 🥂

🌿 CALLING LOCAL WELLNESS PRACTITIONERS, CREATIVES & ANYONE WITH A GREAT IDEA🪴

We’ve been thinking about how we can make even more use of our little riverside garden at U Tagghiu Anticu, especially during the mornings before we open our doors for the day.

It seems such a shame not to make full use of such a peaceful little space right beside the river, with the sound of the water running in the background, and we honestly think it could be the perfect setting for all sorts of things.

Wellness is something we’re massively into, so we would absolutely LOVE to hear from anyone who runs things like sound baths & singing bowls, yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, Pilates, gentle movement or wellbeing sessions 🧘‍♀️🧘🧘‍♂️

But it absolutely doesn’t have to be wellness!

Wreath making, floristry, book clubs, painting, crafts, creative writing, photography, gardening or nature groups, coffee mornings, small workshops, social groups… literally anything! If you’ve got an idea that you think would work in the space, we’d love to hear it 🫜🪴✨

We’re thinking anything from regular morning classes to monthly get togethers, little pop ups or one off events.

And of course, there’s always the option of making a morning of it with Italian coffee, freshly squeezed juice or just something lovely to eat afterwards. ☕️🇮🇹

We just think it could be such a lovely way of making full use of the garden before our normal day even begins.

So if you already run something and fancy bringing it to Helmsley, or you’ve been sitting on an idea and looking for the right place to do it, give us a shout.

Well… this is slightly embarrassing! 🙈😂

We genuinely thought we’d been told today that we had won the Best Dressed Window, but it seems there’s been a huge mix up somewhere probably on our part and unfortunately we haven’t!

So a massive apology for our earlier post we genuinely believed we had won and certainly wouldn’t have posted otherwise. 🤍

A huge congratulations to Twig & Tw**e, who were the Best Dressed Window winners very well deserved! 👏🤍

We were also very kindly awarded £50 prize money for the day, which we’d already decided we wanted to donate straight back to the council to be put towards something positive for Helmsley, and that still very much stands.

Slightly red faced over here tonight 😂 could be worse , but these things happen! 😂🤦‍♀️

Congratulations again to Twig & Tw**e, and thank you to everyone who supported us and came to see us over such a brilliant day 😂😂👏👏❤️❤️

Just a little moment for my Grandad, Don Robinson. ❤️

Watching this beautiful video that just flashed up randomly and seeing everything he achieved, everything he put his heart into, and the mark he made in both Hull and Scarborough makes me incredibly proud.

He was quite a man, and I feel very lucky to be able to call him my Grandad.

Some people leave behind far more than memories they leave a legacy.

Rest in peace, Grandad Don. 🤍

What a lovely day we’ve had yesterday and we’re even more excited for today.
It’s going to be a very special Saturday in Helmsley as we welcome the Tour of Britain.
We’ll be starting a little earlier ourselves with our first Masterclass on site 🍸 before welcoming back our lovely Meadow Adgo from 6pm onwards bringing us a relaxed, chilled acoustic evening.
Come and settle in with beautiful Italian food, cocktails, w**es and drinks and, weather permitting, enjoy our riverside garden until 9pm. 🍷🇮🇹

A big day for Helmsley, a big day for us, and hopefully a great Saturday spent with all of you.

A little thank you to my lovely mum and mother in law, Michelle ❤️

Mum came to stay with us for five days and as mums do, couldn’t resist mucking in while she was here 😂

After driving 6 long hours she voluntarily lent us a hand over a very busy weekend with a fair bit of washing up and a hell of a lot of cleaning, chatted away to our customers and somehow managed to make friends with everyone along the way.

And I have to say… she did an absolutely amazing job at all of it! 😂❤️

She wasn’t here to work, she came to spend some much needed time with us but when you run a small business sometimes the people you love can’t help but roll their sleeves up and get stuck in when they see you’re busy.

Thank you Mum for all the help, the laughs and for being just generally brilliant. We absolutely loved having you here and we already wish you lived closer.

Although if you did live closer, I think we’d be trying to recruit you full time after this weekend 😂😂

We’re looking for two new people to join our lovely little team at U Tagghiu Anticu in Helmsley 🤍🇮🇹

👩‍🍳 KITCHEN ASSISTANT IMMEDIATE START

We’re looking for someone to help with preparing fresh food, plating dishes, keeping the kitchen organised and making sure everything is kept to a really high standard throughout service.

Our kitchen is small but can get extremely busy, so we need someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable working at a good pace. Experience would be great, but full training can be given to the right person.

🍽️ FRONT OF HOUSE FROM 20TH SEPTEMBER

This is predominantly a floor based from 6pm most days the role is welcoming customers, taking orders, serving food and drinks, clearing and resetting tables and making sure everyone is well looked after.

There will be occasional bar work when needed, but this role is mainly about great customer and table service.

We can get busy, particularly at weekends, so we’re looking for someone confident, friendly, reliable and used to working in a busy, fast paced environment.

Part time and full time hours available, hours can vary throughout the year and may reduce during the quieter winter months.

We’re a small independent business and everyone mucks in, so we’re looking for people who are happy to work as part of a team and help wherever needed.
