Great News:
Dear Mr Woodbridge,
I am pleased to advise that the formal consultation to reduce the speed limit through the village of Hawkenbury closed on 4 May 2026 and, due to there being less than six formal objections to the proposals, the Head of Transportation at Kent County Council (KCC) has given approval under his delegated powers for the scheme to proceed as consulted on.
As such, this speed limit reduction scheme is currently with our engineers to complete the scheme design and raise a job with our contractors for its delivery. Unfortunately, due to some recent staff changes in addition to the mobilisation of the new highways contract some of our schemes are taking longer to deliver than we would like and I am unable to provide you with a timescale at this time.
However, please rest assured that we are continuing to work through all our community led schemes as quickly as possible and we will continue to liaise with your County Member, Sarah Emberson, in relation to the progress of this scheme.
Yours sincerely
Emma
