Story time 😆
I had 70 wedding cupcakes get booked in last year for a wedding this year (25/06/2026)… I accepted the order and booked them in! A few months later I found out I was pregnant and it worked out I was due on 27/06/2026😳 I reassured the lady it was ok as they are just cupcakes so would still be able to do them!
Fast forward to the week of the wedding & my due date I was having a few signs baby would be born soon, but I told myself it would be fine!
If you remember this particular week, the heat was 38°…absolutely ridiculous! ☀️ So, on 24th June I started icing the cupcakes in the evening as the kitchen was much cooler, but it was proving to be more difficult than usual…buttercream was melting very quick! I got as many done as I could and put them straight into the fridge. It became near on impossible to finish them, I had 24 left so I thought I’ll go to bed and ice the rest first thing in the morning!
I woke on 25th June at 5am in quite a lot of pain…not realising that was actually my body going into labour 😆 After calling the midwife to come over (I was having a home birth) we concluded I was in fact in labour…but oh yes I still had 24 cupcakes to finish!😆
So yes..as you can imagine I was in my kitchen, contractions coming every 3 minutes and I was icing these cupcakes in between each contraction 😂
Thankfully I managed to finish them, the cupcakes got collected and shortly after I managed to birth my daughter at home! 🥳
