A NEW CHAPTER FOR SANDERS POOL
Looking through some old photographs over the last few days has reminded Heather and me just how far Sanders Pool has come.
When we first took on the building at Agar Road, it was an empty former Lloyds Bank — complete with the old banking counter, vault and an enormous amount of work ahead of us.
What followed was a major redevelopment. We stripped the building back, completely remodelled the ground floor, carried out substantial works to the rear and transformed what had been a bank into a purpose-built fish & chip takeaway and restaurant.
In May 2018, after many months of hard work, Sanders Fish & Chips Pool opened its doors for the first time.
Eight years later, we can look back with an enormous amount of pride at what it has become.
From those early days, Sanders Pool grew into a busy and successful business, serving thousands of customers from Pool, Illogan, Redruth and the surrounding communities. More importantly to us, it became a proper local business — supported by regular customers, local families and some incredibly loyal and hardworking staff.
Today, we can announce that Sanders Fish & Chips Pool has changed ownership.
Heather and I have sold the business to Bal and Patricia, who will now take it forward into its next chapter.
For our customers, however, we want to reassure you that very little is changing in the immediate future.
The same familiar team will continue to run the business, the same quality produce will continue to be used, and your fish & chips will continue to be prepared and cooked in the same way.
There will inevitably be some changes over the coming weeks and months as Bal and Patricia make the business their own. The Sanders name and branding will eventually change, along with elements of the website and online ordering system.
But the important things — the people, the food and the service — remain.
For Heather and me, this is naturally a significant and quite emotional moment.
We started with an empty former bank and an idea. We invested a huge amount of time, effort and energy into creating Sanders Pool and then spent the following eight years building it into the successful business it is today.
To look back at those early photographs and then look at the business now gives us an enormous sense of pride. To know that what we created will continue serving the local community under new ownership makes handing it over that little bit easier.
We would particularly like to thank all of our staff, past and present.
No successful hospitality business is created by one or two people, and Sanders Pool simply could not have become what it is today without the hard work, loyalty and commitment of the many people who have worked alongside us over the years.
And finally, the biggest thank you goes to you — our customers.
To everyone from Pool, Illogan, Redruth, Camborne and further afield who has walked through our doors, sat in the restaurant, collected a takeaway, ordered online, recommended us to somebody else or simply kept coming back:

Your support turned our idea into a thriving local business employing many people and serving the community, and Heather and I will always be incredibly grateful of that.
We wish Bal and Patricia every success for the future, and we hope that you will give them the same tremendous support that you have given us and the Sanders team since we first opened those doors in 2018.
From an empty old Lloyds Bank to the business you see today — it’s been quite a journey.
Now it’s time for the next chapter.
