Fleece Inn Haworth

Fleece Inn Haworth The Fleece, a no-nonsense three-storey stone pub, is halfway up, or halfway down, the lung-bursting steep hill which is Haworth’s main street.
(1381)

A traditional pub with rooms in the heart of Bronte country, on the famous cobbled Main Street, a Timothy Taylors pub with award winning ales, homemade food including fantastic pies
Also very dog friendly, and 2 real fires too. Your approach depends on your point of pilgrimage. Most tourists are here for the Brontës. The Parsonage, now a fascinating museum, is where Charlotte, Emily, Anne and the

ir ill-starred brother, Branwell, lived. That is at the very top of the hill, behind the church. Other visitors, however, are fans of the 1970 film The Railway Children. They head for Haworth railway station, which is at the bottom of the village. The cream-on-green sign and the handsome etched windows of The Fleece announce a world famous local brewery, Timothy Taylor’s, of nearby Keighley. Enter and you find yourself in a comfortable old-fashioned wainscoted interior. The bar has a flag floor, so hikers & dogs can safely clatter in. Around the bar are several cosy and carpeted nooks and crannies. There are the expected photos of old Haworth and the Brontës, but down in the dining room, you’ll find portraits of the stars of The Railway Children as well. Other visitors are here for the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, with it's steam & diesel trains, just down the cobbles from the Fleece. (Or a bit of a drag uphill from the station for a well-deserved pint or two)

For beer enthusiasts, the sight of a rank of gleaming pumps on the bar, displaying Timothy Taylor’s beers, is a stirring sight. Landlord Pale Ale is the famous one, approved of by Madonna, no less. There’s also Ram Tam, which is Landlord enhanced with caramel and molasses to produce a winter ale. There’s Boltmaker (formerly known as Best Bitter), Golden Best (a light mild) and a rotating option usually either the Dark Mild or an offering from a Yorkshire independent brewery. You can continue the beery theme with your food. Home-made pies and gravies use Landlord and Ram Tam. Batter for fish is made with Golden Best. The menu is honest and locally sourced. Ah, Timothy Taylor’s beers, meat pies and a brass band – there’s a taste of real Yorkshire.

We're happy to support local businesses and artisans, so we keep a small stock of the handwash and the wax melts behind the bar to purchase too.

Many of our regulars will have seen, admired and maybe even petted Baileydog on one of his many visits to the Fleece Inn.

Baileydog's best human Steve has written this heartfelt book 'for anyone who has ever owned or loved a dog'.

Baileydog's best dog friend, our very own Jackson, is mentioned, with some really sweet photos of the two of them.

There are definitely two dog-shaped pieces missing from the Fleece Inn but the brilliant memories we have are many.

Congratulations Steve. It's a great book.
