this life

the hour the day
the minute the moments
and then the instant

time is but a veil upon eternity
and eternity the meadow
which stretches shadowless
sans frontières
for infinity is not a measured space
and boundlessness is but a concept
of the mind
like freedom
that sits
locked within this veil
and we poor shrouded ones
living in the purdah of our thoughts
seek through those caged slits
of consequential moments
the instants when the light sparks
those intimate flashes
known by their infinitesimal smallness
when a glimpse of an escape route seems possible
and when we wake to this
we reach
we cling
and with vision strengthened
from a greater source
we may find that rope
which pulls us to safety
beyond the stars
beyond all hope and fears

and the rope is the rope of love
that only knows what is its own
this so-called union
is never with other than oneself
