Due to matters Beyond our control; the brewery have decided to place The Duke Public House up for sale, meaning that business cannot resume. Whilst we are disappointed, we are happy that we have rejuvenated the place over the last 10 years, making it more modern and more welcoming.

This being said, The Duke is now permanently closed until a buyer has been found.

The new brewery advertise that they are a community based brewery with the community at heart, which we tend to disagree with as this is happening with The Duke. Even with the redevelopment of the Public House on London Road recently which is the same brewery, we feel as it was very select to choose specific public houses. Those that have been part of the decision will also be able to see this, so hopefully they can reiterate this back in some form.

We would like to take this opportunity to thanks all of our regulars, friends and family for their consistent support throughout our reign. We are extremely sad and underwhelmed by this and unfortunately could not raise sufficient funds to purchase the forever loving plot.

For now it’s goodbye, but also a huge thank you and we hope we can enjoy a drink together; real soon.
