We were delighted to welcome Ake & Humphris Wine & Beer Specialists to our monthly Wine Group, sharing their expertise and guiding us through a wonderful selection, perfectly paired with cheeses from the glorious The Cheeseboard and Yorkshire Pecorino.

Each month, a Club member leads the tasting, bringing their knowledge, enthusiasm and a superb variety of wines for us all to enjoy. All our special interest groups are run by members, for members - from wine to history, philosophy to investments - with friendship at the heart of it all.

And the sun shone too🥂☀️

We are proud to be affiliated with the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, and were delighted to welcome Colonel Nigel Rhodes, Regimental Secretary, to The Club today, hosted by the President and Honorary Secretary.

This is an important and valued connection for The Club, reflecting a shared heritage and a long-standing relationship with the Armed Forces. In this year, as the Regiment marks the 20th anniversary of its formation we were especially pleased to welcome Nigel to The Club.

On Saturday 28 March 2026, we were delighted to welcome over 100 members and their guests to celebrate 140 years of The Harrogate Club at 36 Victoria Avenue. A truly special and memorable milestone in our history.

The Club looked wonderful for the occasion. Our Members’ Bar was transformed into a vibrant cocktail bar, the Members’ Lounge became an elegant cocktail lounge with a pianist, and guests were welcomed by the beautiful sound of a harpist in the Reading Room.

It was also particularly meaningful to have tri-service representation with us, alongside kind messages of congratulation from The Royal Yorkshire Regiment and RAF Leeming.

A wonderful evening of celebration, laughter and fellowship and a landmark moment in the history of The Club.

Today we celebrate a very special milestone – 140 years to the day since The Harrogate Club first opened the doors to our purpose-built clubhouse on Victoria Avenue.

Founded in 1857, it was on this day in 1886 that we truly found our home. Within these walls and the very fabric of the building lies a rich tapestry of Harrogate’s history, of which we are immensely proud.

This weekend, we look forward to celebrating in style with a sold-out cocktail party for members and their guests. A fitting tribute to 140 years of fellowship, tradition, and community.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🥂

Our speaker is Club Member Sharon Canavar, Chief Executive of Harrogate International Festivals. Behind the Curtain, Beyond the Brochure, offers an honest look at what really goes into making a festival, from big ideas and bold ambition to the practical realities, hidden challenges and unexpected moments that audiences never see. A candid, behind-the-scenes view of the people, planning and passion that turn a festival into something special.
