A very big thank you to our lovely Fi for everything she has done for BLaH over the past few years. 💐

Fi has decided it’s time to step back from her role helping to run BLaH due to work commitments, and Jo and I couldn’t let her go without saying a proper thank you for all the time, effort and hard work she has put in behind the scenes.

There’s an awful lot that goes into organising BLaH that our ladies probably never see and Fi has played a huge part in keeping everything running smoothly.

Last Friday, we got together with some of our BLaH ladies to talk about what they enjoy about our events and what they’d like to see going forward. It was lovely to hear such positive feedback and, most importantly, a very definite YES, 'we want BLaH to continue!' So it will. 😊

We’re going to take a little time out to get everything organised following Fi’s departure and due to work, holiday and family commitments, which means there won’t be an October event, but we’ll be back in November so save the dates.

We're doing something a little different at our next BLAH lunch...

Instead of our usual speaker or workshop, we're opening up the conversation to the room.

We'd like to hear what you the local businesswomen want from networking:

☑️ What makes an event worth attending
☑️ What you enjoy
☑️ What you'd like to see more of and
☑️ What would make you come back

As BLAH is a not-for-profit networking group and doesn't exist for us, it exists for you the local businesswomen who come along. So it makes total sense that you should have a say in what we do and how BLAH develops.

You don't need to be a BLAH regular to join the conversation. If you've been before, we'd love your thoughts. If you've never been, your fresh perspective could be just as useful.

And as always, there'll still be plenty of time for networking and, of course, to enjoy a lovely lunch at William & Victoria but this time we'll also be having a 45–60 minute informal Round Table discussion where everyone is welcome to contribute.

As the format is a little different this month, we've reduced the usual £35 ticket price to £25. So, if you fancy joining us for lunch, meeting some lovely local businesswomen and sharing your thoughts about what makes networking genuinely worthwhile, we'd love to see you 🥰

What is BLaH❓

We realise that lots of people know the name BLaH, but many don't actually know what we’re all about.

So, for anyone that doesn't or is new here…

BLaH (Business Ladies around Harrogate) is a friendly, supportive networking community for women in business, not just women from Harrogate.

We’ve been bringing businesswomen together for 16 years, creating a welcoming safe and friendly space to connect, build relationships and support one another.

❌ We are not a membership organisation.
✅ We are a non-profit network, run by 3 volunteers, Rachel Moore, Jo Straker and Fiona Macpherson who are all passionate about supporting women in business.

Our events are designed to feel relaxed, friendly, enjoyable with:
❌ No awkward pitching
❌ No hard sell or pressure

Just genuine conversations, valuable connections, plenty of support and you'll always leave having learnt something because as well as enjoying a delicious two-course safari-style networking lunch, each event has a guest speaker talking about something helpful to your business.

We keep numbers small, with just 22 places available, so everyone has the opportunity to connect and feel part of the conversation. Whether you’re brand new in business, well established or somewhere in between, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

We’re delighted to welcome Lesley Anne Dawson from Children's Corner Childcare, who will be sharing her incredible journey with a complete change in career in her 30’s to becoming a purpose-led entrepreneur, running a multi-million-pound company and a charity in Malawi.

Lesley will be talking honestly about the challenges, triumphs, lessons learned and the luck that helped shape her story.

It promises to be an inspiring and uplifting session and a fantastic way to round off before the summer break.
