Valromey

Five of our junior squad headed to Valromey last week to take on one of the hardest races in junior cycling – rightly nicknamed the Junior Tour de France.

Five days of back-to-back racing. Hundreds of kilometres a day, thousands of metres of climbing, and unprecedented heat with temperatures hitting 41°C.

Our boys rode brilliantly against riders already signed to World Tour development teams like Visma, Soudal and Red Bull.

We had riders finishing in the top 40 (out of almost 200 starters) most days. Every one of our 1st-year juniors completed all 5 stages!

Stage 5 was an individual time trial up the Col de Grand Colombier – just 9.21 miles, but with nearly 4,000ft of climbing. First-year rider Ollie Swinburn produced the ride of the Tour, placing 17th - an incredible result.
