Baltzersen’s is a café that offers you the best Yorkshire sourced ingredients prepared with Scandinavian inspiration to deliver a taste of the Nordic north in relaxed and calm surroundings. Opened in Oct 12, Baltzersen's fills a gap in the market amongst existing coffee shops for a place that manages to combine great coffee, fresh food, refreshing design and friendly service. uence comes from owner Paul's grandma who was Norwegian and it runs through the spine of a menu offering sandwiches, waffles and fantastic pastries and cakes - all made on-site from scratch. Harrogate has many cafes to offer and Baltzersen's should be near the top of your list for breakfast, lunch or just coffee and a cake.

And that's a wrap...

After opening on 1st October 2012, Baltzersen's doors have closed for the final time.

A huge thanks to all our loyal guests and hardworking Baltzersen's team who have made it what it is over the years ❤️ A special mention to Jess, our front of house manager, who has been with us since the very start. She is currently on maternity leave but we look forward to seeing her again on the shop floor later in the year.

We are excited to start the next chapter of our story, and the work begins right now! We hope you will visit us when we re-open as the new Harrogate Bakeri Baltzersen shop and cafe.

Just a reminder that we will no longer be using the Baltzersen's social media accounts so please follow us Bakeri Baltzersen if you are not already!

☕Last week for Baltzersen's

It's the last week of opening for Baltzersen's Cafe before it will close it's doors at 4pm on 23rd Feb. We'll be open 9am - 4pm daily up until then and we'd love to see you ☺️

As mentioned before, when we re-open as the Bakeri Baltzersen Shop and Cafe, there will be no food menu to order from so now is your last chance to enjoy any of your favourite dishes 🍴We know Pyttipanne is up there for many of you!

Waffles will still be available at the weekend and other menu dishes may remain in some form 🥑 We are excited about the new offering and are confident we will have lots of tasty homemade options available.

🎉Waffles are staying!

Earlier this week, we announced the planned works to change the Cafe into a new Bakeri Baltzersen Shop and Cafe. We had so many lovely messages of support so thank you ❤️

One of the main questions we were asked was whether our traditional heart shaped Scandinavian waffles would still be on the menu…….

Whilst the food menu will be going, we still plan to offer waffles at the weekend and potentially during school holidays if the demand is there 🙌🏻

We know many will be sad to see the daytime menu go but we are confident that there will be lots of tasty hot and cold options available.

There will be a core range of hot and cold sandwiches available each day and we are looking at bringing back the Scandi style open sandwich. These will be supplemented with a much more regular selection of specials. We’ll be preparing hot savouries and baking throughout the day to offer sausage rolls and other delicious delights 😋

😲 Big change on the way....

Baltzersen's has been operating for more than 12 years and during that times we've seen a lot of changes both within the business and the environment in which it operates. Since establishing the bakery (Bakeri Baltzersen) that side of the business has accelerated and has overtaken the cafe to become the main part of the business.

We have recently been looking at the financial performance of the cafe and also how it fits alongside the rest of the business and our conclusion is that we need to make a change.

We intend to close the cafe following the Half-Term holiday period on 23rd February 25. We will undertake a programme of works including installing a new floor, changes to decoration and the installation of a new front counter that will last two weeks. The frontage of the cafe will be repainted and new signage in the 'Bakeri Baltzersen' branding will be installed. Following this work the location will re-open as a 'Bakeri Baltzersen' shop and cafe. Once it has re-opened the current bakery shop will close.

We know that a lot of people will be disappointed to hear that the café is going to be changing. There are many guests for whom a visit to Baltzersen’s has become part of their lives, even family traditions during certain times of the year - our own children have never known a Harrogate without it. As business owners we have to make responsible choices for everyone that works in our team and we believe that this is the best way forward. We’re very positive about updating the space and showing the people of Harrogate something new.

Our team have made it in and the team have completed their delivery of freshly baked bread, pastries and cakes 💪🏻

🎄 Happy Christmas!

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Baltzersen's!

Thank you for your continued support this past year. We're shut Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day but we'll be here 9am - 4pm daily all other days. We'd love to see you in the cafe over the Christmas holidays 😊

🎅🏻Christmas Cheer

Escape the cold this weekend and warm up with a cosy eggnog latte. Why not team it up with a Bakeri Baltzersen homemade mince pie for a full on Christmas treat?!

We also have our Christmas specials - the Festive Pølse and a succulent roast porchetta Festive Bun available this weekend. A satisfying lunch for fueling some Christmas shopping 🛍️

🎄 Festive Weekend Specials 🎄

Christmas is coming and the café looks the part....now its time for some festive specials on our food menu 😋

🍔 Festive Bun - Succulent roast porchetta stuffed with fennel and dill, served with cranberry sauce, braised red cabbage and Danish remoulade in a Bakeri Baltzersen potato bun.

🌭 Festive Pølse - 100% Yorkshire smoked pork frankfurter loaded with a Lingonberry and orange sauce, bacon bits, crispy onions and sage, and a dill sour cream served in a Bakeri Baltzersen potato bun. 🌿Vegan option available with a smoked tofu wiener and without the sour cream.

The specials will be available on the weekend (Friday-Sunday) throughout the festive period starting this weekend 🙌🏻
