This Saturday 6th June, a milestone of two decades of service will be celebrated in Halifax with a Freedom Parade, bringing soldiers, veterans, cadets, families and local communities together.

The parade sets off from Halifax Town Hall at 11am and makes its way through the town centre, passing key landmarks including the Duke’s Memorial at the top of Woolshops – one of the best viewpoints to watch the procession – before arriving at Halifax Minster for a special service.

Whilst you’re at the Parade – discover a hidden piece of Halifax history – The Havercake Lads!

The Havercake Lads was a nickname linked to the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, due to a Napoleonic Recruiting Sergeant who would entice young men to join the military by flourishing a havercake on his sword. In honour of this historic local dish, Kitcheners Cafe on Westgate Quarter Halifax and Brothers Bakery in Halifax Borough Market will be serving up homemade authentic Yorkshire havercakes for one day only!

Calling all food & drink producers, makers and venues in Calderdale!
Visit Calderdale are really pleased to say that we’re now putting together the programme for the Calderdale Festival of Food, and we’d love you to be involved.
The Festival is a two‑week celebration running from 7–20 September, encouraging people in Calderdale and nearby areas to discover and enjoy the very best local food and drink.
We’re looking to work with Calderdale‑based food producers and food & drink venues who would like to:
run a food‑related event or activity during the Festival, or
create a special Festival menu using locally sourced ingredients.
If you take part, your event or venue will be promoted as part of the wider Festival campaign, and you’ll also receive branded digital assets to help with your own marketing.
To find out more, visit: Calderdale Festival of Food | Visit Calderdale

Congratulations to the volunteers at the Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group for winning the 'Sustainability' award at the Calderdale Community Spirit Awards 🌟

It is well deserved - run entirely by volunteers, the Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group works year-round to care for Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve and help more people enjoy it.

From conservation work and school visits to open days and sustainability measures at the visitor centre, the group has made the reserve a place people return to, while protecting the wildlife that depends on it 🦇🪺🍄

A beautiful walk around Dodgson Clough today, once the sky cleared and the sun came out! On this short child friendly walk, we searched for bumble bees, four leafed clovers, old ruins… and practiced navigating with the map from Little Legs 🗺️
