Sandstone underfoot, a vaulted ceiling above, and the Sussex countryside through a wall of glass.

That is the Granary at Blackstock Country Estate, our beautifully restored barn where the wedding breakfast is served. Its floor to ceiling glazed windows open right onto the landscaped courtyard, so your guests dine with the countryside in full view.

Overhead, antique cartwheel chandeliers hang from the exposed beams of the vaulted ceiling, and the natural sandstone floor keeps that restored barn character underfoot. It is a room that looks beautiful in daylight and even lovelier as the evening draws in.

Already planning to marry elsewhere? You can still celebrate here with our reception only option, which includes in-house catering, an open bar and the run of both barns and the grounds.

Want to see the Granary for yourself? Send us a message and we will arrange a viewing.

Looking for an all-inclusive wedding venue near Eastbourne? Try a few miles inland.

Plenty of couples start their venue search along the Eastbourne seafront and end up looking a few miles inland instead. Our latest blog explains why.

Blackstock Country Estate is an all-inclusive wedding venue just north of Hailsham at Hellingly, well under half an hour from Eastbourne with plenty of parking when you arrive. You get two restored barns, our own catering team and accommodation on site, plus 70 acres of meadows and lakes right outside for your photographs. One venue and one team, rather than a long list of suppliers to chase and get talking to each other.

The difference is the countryside. Open meadows, wild deer on the grounds and views across the South Downs, and you are still close enough that guests can get home the same evening if they would rather not stay over.

Read the full blog to see why couples make the move inland, then book a viewing when you would like to see it for yourself.

Twilight Weddings at Blackstock Estate - Picture saying your vows at 4pm, with the whole evening still ahead of you.

A Twilight Wedding at Blackstock Country Estate begins later in the day, with your ceremony from 4pm and the celebrations carrying straight on into the evening. Guests arrive together for the whole thing, so there is no long afternoon gap, just a relaxed run through vows, drinks, dinner and dancing.

You have the Tudor Barn and the grounds for the whole evening, and the makeup room is yours from 11am to get ready on site. The package includes welcome drinks, canapés and a choice from our evening buffet. As the light fades, many couples fill the barn with string lights and candles for a warm, cosy glow, and you are still celebrating right through to 11pm.

It is a lovely option for a shorter, more relaxed day, and it starts from £5,450 for 2026.

Ask us about our Twilight Weddings, or give the team a call on 01323 848 006.

One team, one kitchen, and a menu built entirely around you.

At Blackstock Country Estate, your wedding catering is handled by our own in-house team, so there is no outside caterer to book or brief. We sit down with you to plan a menu around your tastes and your budget.

That might be a three or four course wedding breakfast, a whole Sussex roast pig, a summer BBQ or a ch*****ne afternoon tea, with relaxed evening food like a hog roast, a burger stall or a fajita bar. We use locally sourced ingredients where we can, and we happily cater for vegetarian, vegan and other dietary needs.

Before the day, you come in for a tasting to try your choices and settle the final details.

Ask about our menus and book in a tasting when you come to visit.

Imagine this being the place you say I do.

Beyond the barns at Blackstock Country Estate lie 70 acres of private grounds, yours to explore for the whole day. There are two lakes to walk down to, a scented wedding garden, and quiet corners to slip away to when you want a moment to yourselves.

It is a big estate, so there is even a golf buggy on hand to reach the lakes and the far corners for photographs, weather permitting. Wherever you wander, the countryside does the decorating for you.

This could be the setting for your whole wedding day. Come and walk the grounds for yourself, call 01323 848 006 to book a viewing.

Book a private viewing - Come and see the whole estate for yourself before you decide.

Booking a private viewing is the easiest way to know if Blackstock Country Estate is right for your wedding. One of our Wedding Coordinators will walk you around at your own pace, through the Tudor Barn where ceremonies are held, the courtyards, the Granary where the wedding breakfast is served, and our onsite accommodation.

You will get a feel for the 70 acres of East Sussex countryside, ask any questions you like, and probably meet a few of our resident alpacas along the way. There is no pressure and no hard sell, just a relaxed walk around so you can picture your own day here.

We are happy to help seven days a week. Book your private viewing through the online form on our website, or call us on 01323 848 006.

A Thursday in August, a summer barbecue, and a long evening with the whole estate to themselves.

Meet Sammy and Ed, who married at Blackstock Country Estate on a Thursday in early August. A relaxed midweek summer wedding, with lovely weather and a long August evening to enjoy.

After the ceremony, they slipped away for photographs around the estate while their guests enjoyed canapés and drinks. Early August is a beautiful time of year for wedding photos here. They were then announced into the Granary for the wedding breakfast, a summer barbecue with pork and apple burgers, Brighton sausages, Moroccan chicken and squid and chorizo sticks, alongside plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The little ones even had their own ice cream sundaes.

With exclusive use of both barns, Sammy and Ed made the most of a long summer evening. A midweek wedding is a lovely, relaxed way to celebrate.

Congratulations to the happy couple. If a relaxed summer wedding sounds like you, come and see the barns for yourself, we would love to show you round.

Five hundred years of oak, a minstrel's gallery above the bar, and cartwheel chandeliers overhead.

That is the Tudor Barn at Blackstock Country Estate, a beautifully restored 16th century barn and the place your day begins and ends. Your ceremony is held in the Tudor Wing, with a reveal curtain for your grand entrance down the aisle and elegant Chiavari chairs for your guests.

A refurbished minstrel's gallery sits above the oak bar, antique cartwheel chandeliers hang from the ancient oak timbers, and just outside, welcome drinks and canapés are served on the courtyard terrace, looking across the Cuckmere valley with horses and llamas grazing beyond.

Later, once the wedding breakfast is done in the Granary, everyone returns to the Tudor Barn for the evening reception and dancing.

The Tudor Barn really is best seen in person, so book a viewing and let us show you around.

When should the save the dates go out? Sooner than you might think.

One of the first planning questions couples ask us is when to send the save the dates and the invitations, so our latest blog runs through it.

The short answer is that it often comes down to how far your guests are travelling. Because couples marrying at Blackstock Country Estate tend to have guests coming from Brighton, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells and further afield, it is worth giving people a little more notice than a typical local wedding. Send your save the date as soon as your date and venue are confirmed, so guests have time to book time off, sort childcare and think about travel.

We also share a simple tip on RSVP deadlines, leaving a little buffer so you can invite anyone from a reserve list before your final numbers are due with the venue and caterer.

Read the full blog for the complete timeline, and speak to us when you are ready to lock in your date.
