The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak 17th Century family & dog friendly thatched pub in the village of Hail Weston, Cambridgeshire
(302)

The Royal Oak is a 17th-century public house in the village of Hail Weston, Cambridgeshire. This Grade II listed building served as a social centre of Hail Weston life for generations but was sold by the Charles Wells Pub Company in November 2011 and closed as a pub on January 1st 2012.

There followed a long campaign by the Hail Weston Community Pub Society to save The Royal Oak from redevelopme

nt. This led to it being declared an Asset of Community Value in 2013 which effectively stopped it being sold as anything but a working pub.

In January 2017 The Royal Oak was bought be a group of eight local villagers and, with the help of over 100 community volunteers, the building has been refurbished and reopened as an independent village pub on May 19th 2017.

We look forward to The Royal Oak again being back at the heart of the community.

What a West Fest that was!

From 8pm on Friday to 11pm on Saturday, incredible live performances from Oli Bruce, Junkyard Preachers, The Ad Hoc Jam Band, Dingo Jingo, Medication Time, My Girl The River, Dayzee Mikey Day, Fake News - Band, Diamond Country Dance Club and Renegades made this our most successful West Fest ever.

The quality of music was matched only by the generosity of the 300+ people who joined us for an unforgettable weekend which also raised an incredible £3,723 for the wonderful work done by all involved with Hunts Community Cancer Network.

And that wasn't all. Thanks to the auction we held as part of Saturday evening's festivities, an additional £1,000 was raised thanks to Jonney Gates in Somersham offering a fantastic flight in a light aircraft.

So its a HUGE and heartfelt thank you to the bands who gave their time and talent, the sound / stage duo of Mark and Dee, our tireless team here at The Royal Oak and all the gang at HCCN who shook buckets all weekend.

And an equally HUGE thank you to everyone who came down and danced, drank and donated - the vibes were simply amazing throughout.

Get ready for next year - the 10th anniversary edition...
