Introducing Fox & Friends, a new series of collaborative evenings at The Rum Fox celebrating some of the UK’s most exciting gastropubs. 🦊

For our first event, we’re thrilled to welcome The Unruly Pig on Thursday 15th October for a one-night-only, seven-course dining experience bringing together two award-winning kitchens.

Led by Dave Wall and Karl Green, The Unruly Pig has topped the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list three times, alongside earning 3 AA Rosettes and recognition as the Michelin Guide’s Top Food Pub.

This year’s damson crop in Grindleton has been huge - we’ve picked around 75kg! 😮

These small, dark fruits have long been part of Grindleton’s story. Late 19th-century maps show orchards scattered throughout the village, and a jam factory once stood opposite Chapel Lane, sending produce far beyond the Ribble Valley - even to the front during the First World War. What may once have been grown for dye later became an important source of income for the farming community here.

An 1884 map suggests there may once have been 2 to 5 tons of damsons growing across the village. Today, a section of the Woodland Trust’s Greendale Wood has damson trees to commemorate that history. 🌳

At The Rum Fox, we’re proud to celebrate that local heritage on the plate and in the glass - from seared venison haunch and whole roasted grouse to damson and chocolate gateaux and our own damson gin. 👍

"A very warm welcome from the moment we arrived. The place was immaculate, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive - nothing was too much trouble.

We had a table for six, and the service was exceptional throughout. It was, without a doubt, the best Sunday we have ever had.

We would highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful experience!"

Autumn on the Tasting Menu.🍂

Venison loin, venison sausage, allotment beetroot, beef fat potato and Grindleton damson sauce.

Rich, earthy flavours, just right for this time of year. Game, damson, beetroot - all doing what they should and getting on with it nicely.👍

Aurox beef sirloin with beef fat potatoes, grelot onion, watercress purée and bordelaise sauce.
Not much to argue with there.🤷‍♂️
