The Robert Burre is a beautiful pub located on Burrs Road, Great Clacton, which is just over 2 miles from the town center. It has a good-sized car park which means parking is never an issue. The pub is run and staffed mostly by their very large family and this gives the Burre an atmosphere that you just can't find in a chain pub/restaurant. The pub is steeped in history and is reported to be haunt

ed, and according to the old landlord "the little girl, ghost" saved his life (if you're lucky the old landlord may tell you the story himself as he is still a regular and so is the previous Landlady. The Robert Burre was built in the late 1300s and as the age suggests makes it postcard perfect. The internal decoration is very old school with beautiful exposed oak beams with traditional low ceilings and open fireplaces making it home from home on a cold frosty winter's evening. When the sun's shining you can enjoy the beauty of this listed building while you enjoy a beer or glass of house wine in the very large, family-friendly beer garden. There are ample tables and things for the kids to do while you bask in the sunshine. There is also a small animal enclosure which houses Alpaca's, Goats, Ducks, Chickens Rabbits and cute little Guinea Pigs. You can either purchase animal feed for a small fee at the bar or during the weekends and Holidays your children can be booked in for a 20 minute ;nimal experience' where they are escored into the enclosures and are able to see all the animals upclose and personal. If you have dogs, please bring them along as the Burre is very dog friendly, not surprising as the landlord has themselves. If you love Karaoke, Quiz nights, live bands, poker nights, and charitable events you will be right at home, as we have a sprinkling of all these throughout the year, please check our page or website for details. The Burre has a games room with a pool table and dartboard so if your ideal afternoon features a game of Killer then come on down. We have also created a competition sports bar where we have another pool table and dart board and this has proven very popular with our own regulars and visiting local teams. In addition we also have regular free pool days, phone or check our website for more information. Lastly, we look forward to seeing you down at the Burre!!

There's a hollow place in the world today. The voice that sounded like home, the wit that was as sharp as it was kind, and the heart that was bigger than the Tennessee hills is gone. Dolly Parton wasn't just a singer; she was a constant. She was the soundtrack to my childhood, the comfort on a bad day, and the reminder that a little glitter and a lot of grit could get you through anything. From "Coat of Many Colors" to "9 to 5" and "I Will Always Love You," her music wasn't just songs, they were stories. Real stories. Our stories. Thank you, Dolly, for everything. The world is a little less shiny without you.

Thank you Tracy Salter for putting this tribute into verse.
