If we haven’t met yet, consider this your official invitation to pop in, say hi, and let me pour you something lovely.

I’m only a couple of weeks into my new role at The Pheasant, but the welcome I’ve had from the village (and our brilliant regulars) has honestly meant the world.Thank you for every kind word, every encouraging chat over the bar, and every “you’ll do just fine” smile — you’ve made settling in feel easy.

If you haven’t visited us in a while, or you’re new to the area, come on down. The team are on great form, the atmosphere is buzzing, and we’ve got plenty of good food, good drinks, and good company waiting for you.

There are roasts… and then there are proper Sunday roasts in a country pub. 🍽️🍺

The kind where the gravy is plentiful, the Yorkshire puddings are towering, and the conversation around the table lasts almost as long as the meal itself.

Sundays at The Pheasant have always been something special. Friends catching up, families gathering, dogs snoozing by the fire, and that unmistakable aroma of a roast dinner making its way through the pub.

Friday has strutted back into the building… and honestly, I’m not mad about it.

There’s just something about a Friday at The Pheasant — that slow build of “shall we?” messages, neighbours wandering in with that I‑made‑it‑through‑the‑week look, and the first clink of glasses that officially declares the weekend open.

The kitchen team are in full mischief mode tonight, cooking up some gorgeous seasonal dishes that are far too tempting for anyone trying to be “good”. Big flavours, proper comfort, and the kind of plates that make you close your eyes for a second and go, “Oh yes… that’ll do nicely.”

Whether you’re popping in for a cheeky drink, settling in for dinner, or just fancy being around friendly faces, we’d love to see you.

A little mid‑week “education” never hurt anyone…🍷

Yesterday we popped over to our sister pub, The Woodman, for a fun little wine training session with our friends at Anthony Byrne Fine Wines — all in preparation for the launch of our brand‑new wine list.

There was plenty of swirling, sniffing, sipping and the occasional “just one more taste to be sure”.

I’m pleased to report we’ve lined up some absolute beauties for you… and yes, we took the homework very seriously.

Exciting things are coming — watch this space.

A little scrumptious update from our kitchen… 🍽️✨

While our brilliant chefs are hard at work putting the finishing touches on our fantastic new kitchen offering (coming very soon!), we didn’t want to keep you waiting. So we’ve put together a scrumptious little transitional menu — a short, sweet, carefully chosen line‑up of dishes to keep you well‑fed and smiling in the meantime.

Think comforting favourites, fresh flavours, and plates that still feel unmistakably Pheasant, all crafted with the same love and care you know us for. It’s a small menu with a big heart — and it’s the perfect excuse to pop in, say hello, and enjoy something tasty while we build towards the next chapter.

Whether you’re joining us for a relaxed lunch, an early dinner, or just fancy a bite with a pint after work, this little menu is here to tide you over beautifully.

And with our new dinner hours running 5pm–8pm (Mon–Sat), it’s even easier to enjoy something delicious a little earlier in the evening.
