A lovely message from a customer that we just had to share. ❤️

A special mention for & some very kind words about our food 👏

Although we’re not sure whether to be proud or concerned that our portions have left someone practically unconscious. 😂🍜

Thank you for taking the time to message us. We really do appreciate it.

That little face when the noodles arrive… 🥹🍜

Safe to say, we’ve got another Crown & Thistle noodle fan! ❤️

We absolutely love seeing the little ones enjoying our food just as much as the grown-ups.

Bring the whole family, we’d love to see you 🧡

Great Chesterford Steam Up ☀️

30 barrels of b**r 🍺
126 hog roasts 🐷
150 portions of Pad Thai 🍜
300 baps from our local bakery, Days 🥖
30 punnets of strawberries 🍓
4 kilos of Nutella 🤎

134,830,308,727 steps 👣

…and some very, very tired feet!

All in less than 24 hours 🤩

It’s safe to say Steam Up was an absolute blast this year!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, queued, ate, drank, laughed, chatted and generally helped make the day what it was.

Without you, our little bubble of Great Chesterford wouldn’t be what it is today. ❤️

And, of course, a massive thank you to our brilliant staff, who worked their socks off serving your lovely, hungry and thirsty selves all day. As always, we couldn’t have done it without you 🫶🏻

Sometimes, you just need somewhere to come together. 🤍

Saying goodbye to someone you love is never easy. And afterwards, having somewhere familiar to sit, talk, share a drink and remember them can mean a lot.

Here at The Crown & Thistle, we can provide a relaxed, welcoming space for wakes and family gatherings.

We’ll take care of the practical bits, so you can concentrate on being with the people around you.

Nothing over the top. Nothing complicated.

Just a warm, familiar village pub and a team who will look after you.

If you ever need us, we’re here. 🤍

☕️ It’s back! 💚

We can’t believe it’s been a whole year since our last Macmillan Coffee Morning!

We’ll be doing it all again this Friday, 25th September, 8.45–11am. Coffee, cake, a good natter and hopefully lots of familiar faces from the village.

Come and join us and help us raise a bit of money for Macmillan. 💚

Is it too early to talk about Christmas?

Not if you’re the one organising the work Christmas do… 😉

If you’re already dreading the usual set menu, you’re in luck.

At The Crown & Thistle, your Christmas get together doesn’t mean being stuck with three courses chosen months in advance. You can enjoy our full Thai menu, just as you normally would. 🎄

Get your brownie points by booking early, take one more job off the list and avoid the last minute scramble for somewhere decent.

Especially when you could book somewhere as good as us. 😉

We’re taking Christmas bookings now.

A farewell to Lauren aka Ralph ❤️
Waitress ➡️ Teacher

Lauren joined us as a wee 16 year old for her very first job, starting as a waitress.

Fast forward a few years and she’s now a fully qualified teacher! It’s been such a pleasure watching her grow up and become the confident young woman she is today.

Always reliable, always willing to help and our brilliant blackboard writer, not to mention her uncanny knowledge of everything happening around the village! 😂

We’re sad to see Ralph leave us, but incredibly proud of everything she’s achieved.

Thank you for all the years, Lauren. You’ll be missed, but we know you’ll make an amazing teacher. ❤️

🚂 STEAM UP IS BACK! 🚂

Saturday 26th September | 10am–4pm

The village comes alive for another Steam Up and it’s shaping up to be a proper good old-fashioned day out.

Think steam engines, classic cars, steam punk, stalls, a fun fair, morris men dancing, b**r, cake and plenty of village loveliness. The sort of day where you wander about, have a nose at everything, eat something delicious and probably end up staying longer than you planned!

And of course, we’ll be open all day with food on the go, including freshly cooked noodles and a good old hog roast. 🍜🐷

Bring the family, bring your friends and come and enjoy a bit of proper village fun.

🗓 Saturday 26th September
⏰ 10am–4pm

And yes… you can absolutely come for the steam engines and stay for the noodles. We won’t judge. 😉
