Kitchen Assistant

We’re currently looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at The Elwes Arms.

The role is approximately 25–30 hours per week, with a mixture of evening and weekend shifts, with an immediate start available.

The role will include:

* Assisting the chef during meal service
* Helping with food preparation
* Washing up and keeping on top of dishes during service
* Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen
* Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised
* Taking food out to customers on quieter shifts or when required
* Supporting the chef and wider team wherever needed

This is a hands-on role, particularly during busy services, so we’re looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and happy to get stuck in.

Previous experience working in a kitchen would be a big advantage, as we’re looking for someone who can confidently work in a busy environment. However, a good attitude, reliability and the ability to work well as part of a team are just as important.

Today at The Elwes Arms, we’re taking a moment to recognise World Su***de Prevention Day.

We never truly know what someone else might be going through. You don’t need to have all the answers — sometimes simply asking “Are you okay?”, taking the time to listen and showing someone you care can make a real difference.

Whether it’s a friend, family member, colleague, customer or even a stranger, take the time to check in. A small conversation can mean more than you realise.

And if you’re the one struggling, please remember you don’t have to face things alone. Reach out and talk to someone.

🍺❤️ THANK YOU! – ELWES BEER FESTIVAL 2026 ❤️🍺

And just like that… another Elwes Beer Festival is over! 🍻

A massive THANK YOU to every single person who came along and supported us over the weekend. The weather certainly threw everything at us 🌧️☀️ – but you didn’t let a bit of rain stop the fun! If anything, it just added to the memories! 😂🍺

🎶 A huge thank you to all of our fantastic singers and musicians who kept us entertained throughout the festival. You were absolutely brilliant and helped create an incredible atmosphere all weekend.

👏 To our amazing team – thank you! From serving pints and food to setting up, clearing down and everything else behind the scenes, you all worked incredibly hard and pulled together when it mattered. We couldn’t have done it without you.

🍺 And of course, thank you to everyone who drank their way through our ales, craft lagers and ciders, enjoyed the food, joined us for the quiz and supported our little pub.

Seeing the Elwes packed with people laughing, singing, dancing and enjoying themselves is exactly why we put this weekend on every year.
