🍂 WELL, HELLO AUTUMN… 🍂

The Autumn Equinox has arrived, which means we are officially allowed to get VERY excited about all things cosy. And believe me… we are. 😂

The café honestly looks its absolute best at this time of year — golden leaves outside, cosy corners inside and the perfect excuse to add even more autumn loveliness. 🍁🤎

We’re busy getting the pumpkins, leaves and autumn decor out, while behind the scenes we’re also getting our autumn-inspired drinks and cakes ready. ☕️🍰

Think cosy coffees, warming hot chocolates, autumnal matchas, delicious cakes and all the good stuff that makes you want to stay for “just one more”.

(And yes, we’ll absolutely judge you if you leave without cake.) 😂

And just like that… we’re on our way home. 🇨🇭❤️

We’ve had the loveliest few days back in Switzerland — somewhere that was home to us for many years, so coming back has felt pretty special.

There was a time when we genuinely didn’t know if we’d ever make it back here, so wandering around our old haunts, eating far too much Swiss food and taking in those views has been something we’ve really treasured.

Meanwhile, back at Badger & Bean, the team have been holding the fort — and they’ve been absolutely brilliant. ❤️

Everything has carried on, everything is ticking along and nobody has needed me! 😂

Very proud of them… although I’m sure they’ll be pleased to have me back asking where everything is again. 😂

And a huge thank you to Mel at White's Travel - Howden for organising all our train travel so brilliantly. One less thing for us to think about and it all worked like clockwork. 👌🏻

Now for the journey home and back to real life ❤️

We’ve got TWO spots up for grabs at Badger & Bean.

☕️ FRONT OF HOUSE / BARISTA

2–3 days per week (weekday availability essential)

We’re looking for someone who’s friendly, confident and happy chatting to customers, making great coffee and getting stuck in wherever needed.

Barista & hospitality experience is an advantage, but we’re happy to train the right person.

You’ll need to be:
☕️ Comfortable behind the coffee machine
😊 Great with people
💪 Happy when things get busy
🫶 A proper team player

Monday & Tuesday + holiday cover

We’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking good, honest café food and can work confidently in a busy kitchen.

Experience is preferred, but the right attitude and ability to work well as part of a team are just as important.

So, what’s it like working here?

Well… it’s busy, it’s fun and it can occasionally be a little bit bonkers. 😂

We’re a team who genuinely muck in and look after each other. No two days are quite the same — and that’s part of the fun.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day 💛

And if I’m honest, I nearly didn’t post anything because it can feel difficult to find the right words.

But maybe that’s the point… there don’t need to be perfect words.

We never truly know what someone else is carrying. The person who always makes everyone laugh. The friend who says they’re “just tired”. The one who seems to have everything together.

Our little café sees so many conversations every day — friends catching up over coffee, families putting the world to rights, people popping in for five minutes and staying for an hour. And sometimes, a chat and a cup of tea can mean more than we’ll ever realise. ☕️

So today, take a moment to reach out. Send the message. Make the call. Put the kettle on and listen.

And if things feel heavy for you right now, please don’t feel you have to carry it all on your own.

Sometimes the most important thing we can say is simply…

“Come on, sit down. Tell me what’s going on.” 💛

WREATH MAKING EVENINGS ARE BACK! 🎄

I can’t believe this is our 3rd year of hosting them — they’re definitely becoming part of our Christmas tradition! ❤️

Come along, enjoy a drink and some nibbles, get creative and make your own beautiful Christmas wreath to take home.

And they really are so fresh — last year mine lasted right through until the end of February! 🌿

And then… THEY’RE BACK. 😂

Honestly, has this been the longest school holiday EVER?! 🙈

No more “I’m bored.”
No more “What are we doing today?”
No more opening the fridge 47 times looking for snacks. 😂

Before we send them back to school, there’s still one last bit of holiday fun to squeeze in!
