The Pirates tree in Half-moon bay Jamaica

We opened Beaches diner eleven years ago and April 16th 2020 celebrates our eleventh year. We decided upon the name because we spent our careers travelling around the world by sea, air and land. The name Beaches was chosen because of the number of beaches we have visited around the world and even considering the different cultures we experienced, we recognised some common themes that we all experience on, or at the beach.

Fun, play, relaxing, therapy, observing and reflection. Groups, couples, families and singles, and then added to this we realised that we had enjoyed so many exciting tastes, flavours, spices and varied dishes, plates and meals, that we could embrace some of our favourites and create a diner that could offer many of them to our customers. We have chatted and exchanged ideas and dishes with chefs in the Caribbean, Australia, Indonesia, Europe and Scandinavia and many from the UK. From St Lucia to Sidney, Bali to Chicago, Gothenburg to Cape Town, Cuba to Paris, we draw upon many experiences.

We are now entering a phase in global cuisine history where we as caterers must consider diversity; red meat, fish and intensive farming of many of the staple diets around the world are fast becoming less sustainable, and so we are now entering a new journey to discover new textures, tastes and methods to create and develop more sustainable foods in tandem with our environment. We are not ‘waking away’ from some of our popular favourites yet, but are going to be changing some old and introducing something new (and we feel) exciting.

We hope you might enjoy some of them.
