After 8 unforgettable years, this is the hardest post we’ve ever had to write 💔
With broken hearts, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to leave The Cyder House. Sadly, with the current economic climate and the challenges facing the hospitality industry, we can no longer keep going.
For a long time, we’ve fought with absolutely everything we had to avoid becoming another statistic. It’s often said that two pubs are closing every day, and we were determined not to be one of them. We did everything we could, but with costs continuing to rise across the board, we’ve reached a point where we simply have no other choice.
Over the last eight years, we’ve poured our blood, sweat and tears into this place. It hasn’t just been a business to us – it’s been our life. We’ve celebrated with you, laughed with you, cried with you, and shared so many special moments. Every long day, every late night, every challenge has been worth it because of every single person who has walked through our doors.
Our final day of trading will be Sunday 2nd August, and we’d love nothing more than to spend these last few weeks surrounded by the people who made this journey so special.
If you’ve ever thought about popping in for one last meal, pint or catch-up, now is the time. Please continue to support us over these final few weeks by joining us for meals, drinks and good times. Our kitchen will be serving the same food you’ve always enjoyed, and every visit makes a real difference. Most importantly, your support will help us keep our incredible team looked after until the very end.
We’re leaving with heavy hearts and, unfortunately, a significant amount of debt. If anyone would like to support us as we try to close this chapter and start a new one, any donations—no matter how small—would be appreciated more than we could ever put into words. There will never be any expectation, but every bit of support will help us walk away with a little less financial burden and a chance to rebuild our lives.
To every customer, friend, supplier and every member of staff who has been part of our journey over the past eight years—thank you. You made this pub more than just four walls; you made it a place filled with warmth, laughter and memories that we’ll always treasure.
This isn’t how we wanted our story to end, but we leave with countless memories and enormous gratitude for every single one of you.
Thank you for everything. We hope you’ll come and raise one last glass with us before we close our doors for the final time on 2nd August. Let’s make these final weeks ones to remember.
