Pelican Inn, Beer Festival

Pelican Inn, Beer Festival The Pelican Inn hosts beer festivals every June and February. We host Beer Festivals every February and June. Both festivals are very different.

February we use the main bar and the cellar and racking behind the bar. In June we serve 17 beers from the function room upstairs, 6 from the back bar outside and 9 on the main bar. February's festival offers cellar tours and tasting cards and is a race to see how many different beers we can put on in two and a half days (27 in 2015). In June we offer 32 different beers (but often several barrels of each) over two days and when they are gone, they are gone.

All the beers are racked and cooled ready for our 14th anniversary beer festival this weekend. The beer list can be seen via untappd or through the QR code on the flyers and posters. We will have 43 beers, 16 ciders, Live Music, burgers and Chilli from Mrs Meltons SmokeShack aswell as cheese and onion rolls and pickled eggs. Debs is tidying the garden currently and hanging baskets are going up this afternoon. Everything is coming together for a fantastic festival.
We will have 3 bars manned by my fabulous staff and many heroic volunteers. Tasting cards are available, giving you the chance to try 15 thirds for £25. You can also just buy pints, halves and thirds as normal with cash or card. Try to use the tv screens and QRs as much as possible but printed beers lists will also be available. Hopefully the weather holds up. Love and hugs, Mike.

The festival officially starts at 12noon on Friday (until midnight Saturday) but I’ll be opening up the upstairs bar for a taster session on Thursday between 7-11pm if anyone wants a sneak preview of the 13 beers upstairs 😊.

Just two weeks to go until our 14th anniversary beer festival. The final beers are arriving next week so the QR code will be updated as early as Tuesday or Wednesday next week. We’ve got great food as always from Mrs Meltons SmokeShack and live music both days with Tony’s Jukebox, Run Yoshi Run, Churchdown Male Voice Choir, Acostix and Friends Ukenited. Lots of beer and hopefully some glorious sunshine. Love and hugs, Mike.

An incredible first day of the festival yesterday. Several beers have gone already and many are very low so I’ve replaced beers upto number 53 and will continue to add beers throughout the day today. I’m printing new lists as we speak but I’ve added them in photos here also. Beers lists will be on untappd throughout and updated promptly. QR codes are on the posters on the walls of the pub to take you to right the page. Mrs Meltons SmokeShack will be cooking for us today and it looks like we have the promise of more good weather 😊 🏝️ ☀️ Bonjour!

We are hosting our 12th Winter Ales Festival from 19th-22nd March (Thursday-Sunday). Over 50 casks will be available over the long weekend plus craft kegs and traditional ciders. I’ve ordered about half the beers so far so if anyone has any recommendations then I’m happy to hear them. Love and hugs, Mike.
