❤️ Today we celebrate McHappy Day! ❤️
Today, we’re proud to be fundraising for Ronald McDonald House Charities — an incredible charity that provides a home away from home for families when their child is seriously ill and needs specialist care.
The charity is supported through the generosity of McDonald’s franchisees, staff and customers, and those extra few pennies really can make a huge difference to a family going through one of the most difficult times imaginable.
Ronald McDonald Houses provide families with somewhere close to their child to stay, whether that’s for a short visit or a much longer period. They offer so much more than just a room — with meals throughout the day, gaming and entertainment facilities for siblings, volunteers to talk to when things feel lonely, and a safe, supportive environment where families can simply be together.
🏠 It truly becomes a home away from home when families need it most.
This year, our store had the absolute pleasure of sending our Community Engagement Manager, alongside colleagues from other McDonald’s restaurants, to volunteer at a Ronald McDonald House.
The experience was genuinely overwhelming.
Hearing stories of new mums spending their first few months with their new babies in a different county, away from their usual family and support networks, and relying on the kindness of people they had never met was incredibly moving.
We also heard about families whose children have needed long stays because of complicated procedures and treatment. Having somewhere safe for brothers and sisters to play, burn off some energy and feel like children again — while their family has 24/7 access to the facilities and is close by to their child — is something that really puts into perspective just how important this charity is.
❤️ It’s not just accommodation. It’s support. It’s comfort. It’s community. And for many families, it’s a lifeline.
