Ranjit we are very proud of you! For more than 10 years you’ve built Ranjit’s Kitchen from scratch, bringing your authentic homemade Panjabi food to the people of Glasgow and serving it with love. It is only right that you’re a part of this exhibition “Mother Glasgow” and that you are featuring on billboards across the city you have made home. Thank you - we can’t wait for the exhibition!

Painting 3 from Gerard M Burns’ MOTHER GLASGOW Exhibition 🎨✨

Meet Ranjit Kaur, a proud Sikh woman from Jandiala village in the Panjab, who has been calling Glasgow home since the early 1990s.

Ranjit grew up working on her family farm, planting seeds, tending vegetables and fruit, milking cows and buffaloes, all while learning the art of authentic Panjabi cooking from her mum and elders.

When she moved to the UK in the 1980s, Ranjit brought her love for food, community, and culture with her, keeping her roots alive through her cooking and spirit. ❤️

Chole Bhatture are a firm favourite made all over India using different methods and ingredients, with chickpeas and fried bread as the central components. This is our version and they are best eaten straight away when the Bhatture (fried bread) is fresh, hot, light and crispy!
