Oktoberfest b**rs are back 🍺

We’ve got 11 different Festbiers and Märzens in the shop, which is frankly a ridiculous amount of golden l***r. Picking three favourites was not easy, but these are the bottles I keep coming back to.

Augustiner is the benchmark. Soft, bready, beautifully smooth and dangerously easy to drink for a b**r sitting at 6.3%. There’s a reason everyone gets excited when this one arrives.

Spaten is proper old school Oktoberfest b**r. Toasty malt, gentle sweetness and loads of character. Nothing flashy. It just gets everything right.

Then there’s Zötler. A smaller, family owned Bavarian brewery from the Allgäu that quietly makes an absolute belter of a Festbier. Golden, bready, gently bitter and full of flavour. It more than holds its own against the big Munich names.

This is absolutely not a definitive list. I love far too many of them for that.

All 11 are available now to drink in, take away or order online for UK delivery.

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m pretty damn excited about football season this year.

Here’s what we’ve got going down at Grunting Growler:

TRAINING CAMP — THIS SUNDAY, 6–10PM

Wings, b**r pong and plenty of b**r to get us warmed up for the new NFL season.

FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT — THIS SUNDAY, 2:30PM

We still have two spots left in this year’s league. Message us if you want one.

MONTHLY WINGS

Wings will be back on the first Sunday of every month, as well as for the NFL’s opening weekend.

WEEKLY PICK ’EM

Pick the team you think will win each game, then assign confidence points from 1–15, depending on how many games are being played that week.

If your team wins, you bank the points. If they lose, you get a big fat zero.

MORE SCREENS?

We’re working on getting a second TV so we can show RedZone on one screen and our Game of the Week on the other.

We’re kicking things off on Sunday 30th August with a full day of football nonsense.

First up, we’re launching the Grunting Growler Fantasy Football League. It’s completely free to join and there are 12 spots available, but there are two little caveats:

🏈 You must be able to join us for the in-store draft at 2:30pm on Sunday 30th August
🍺 You’ll earn an extra 3 points every week you watch RedZone with us in the shop

So yes, you can win the league by making clever waiver-wire moves… or by simply spending every Sunday at Grunting Growler. Send us a DM if you want in!

Then from 6–10pm, it’s our first ever RedZone Training Camp:

My wife has recently gone back to work, which has really shaken things up a bit. But hey, life is all about adapting!

My mother-in-law has been amazing at helping us with Ayda, but she’s currently enjoying some much deserved time off in the sun.

Soooo… Ayda became my little assistant for the day.

Here’s what we got up to:

• Packed our bags for an action-packed day
• Watched Bluey while doing some very important laptop work
• Carried out a stocktake
• Did our due diligence on the risk assessment
• Dad prepped for his upcoming event (tickets still available)
• Took a nap because Ayda did all the heavy lifting

A wee update from me…

I’ve made the decision to keep the shop closed today.

Since becoming a dad, I’ve realised more than ever just how special time with family is… and how quickly it all goes by. We’ve got family heading back home after spending the summer here, so I’m taking the day to spend some proper time with them before they go.

Thanks for understanding ❤️ We’ll be back open as usual tomorrow!

A MASSIVE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR FRIENDS Vault City Brewing

Featuring all 8 birthday b**rs, a homemade party hat and one very overexcited b**r lover.

I still remember grabbing a quick coffee with the guys to convince them to let me pour their Mango Sour at a b**r festival we were both attending. I’d seen it on Instagram beforehand and just knew we *needed* it on tap. Thankfully they said yes!

We were the first stall to kick a keg that day and, honestly, Vault City has pretty much been a permanent fixture in our shop ever since.

Oh... and let’s not forget the time they actually went along with one of my ridiculous ideas to add caffeine to an American-style soda sour. I can’t tell you what b**r it was... but use your imagination. ⛰️💚

Anyways... Thanks for all the incredible b**rs, the laughs, the memories and, of course, the hangovers.

8 years is a hell of an achievement.

Keep doing what you’re doing. We love your weird and wonderful ways. ❤️🍻

WE’VE HAD A GLOW UP 💅

About 6 weeks ago we started renovating the shop... again.

The reality is we’ve never had the upfront money to create the vision we always had in our heads. So every chance we get to improve it, we take it.

This is the latest chapter.

✔️ Triple-glazed windows
✔️ Windows restored back to their original height
✔️ The original-style ribbed glass reinstated
✔️ A brand new timber-clad shopfront

The result? A shopfront that’s sexy AF. But more importantly, it feels like it belongs here. It’s much closer to the timeless, historic character the building deserves.

It’s also warmer in winter, cooler in summer, flooded with natural light, and somehow makes the shop feel twice the size.

The transformation has been so dramatic that customers have genuinely walked straight past us thinking we’ve disappeared. 😂

We’re not quite finished yet... A hand-painted sign is still to come once our sign writer finishes a few other projects, and we genuinely think that’ll be the icing on the cake.
