Perfectly brewed. Slowly sipped. Welcome to Ottoman Coffeehouse.

His name’s Zayn. Just Zayn. No code number. Licence to chill, preferably with a ceramic cup in hand.

While other agents reach for the whisky neat, Zayn reaches for something far more dangerous; a single origin pour that hits smoother than a silenced Walther. No martini. No stir. Where the only thing getting shaken is the espresso shot, and the only thing stirred is, well, still the espresso.

Elegance is permanent. The coffee is temporary. Pop in before 7pm, before the credits roll.

Ottoman Coffeehouse, Where every sip is a statement, and every seat is the best seat in the house.

In 1554, the world’s first public coffeehouses emerged in Istanbul’s Tahtakale district. They were never just places to drink coffee. They became spaces where merchants, poets, scholars, travellers and neighbours came together to exchange ideas, challenge perspectives and build community. A simple cup of coffee became the centre of conversation, culture and connection.

Centuries later, that same spirit found a new home in Glasgow.

In 2015, we opened Ottoman Coffeehouse with a simple vision, to resurrect the atmosphere, hospitality and craftsmanship of the original Ottoman coffeehouses for a modern generation. We travelled to Türkiye to study the traditions, embraced the centuries-old art of brewing coffee in the ibrik, and combined it with the very best of contemporary specialty coffee.

Today, every cup we serve is a tribute to a tradition that has connected people for more than 470 years.

We are honoured that this journey has led to Ottoman Coffeehouse being recognised as the No. 1 coffee shop in the United Kingdom by European Coffee Trip. But awards are only part of our story.

Our greatest achievement is seeing strangers become friends, conversations turn into ideas, and guests from around the world gather around the same table, just as they did in the coffeehouses of 16th-century Istanbul.

Established in 1554. Resurrected in Glasgow in 2015.

This is more than coffee. This is the continuation of one of the world’s greatest coffee traditions.

Some things just never go out of style, like knowing when to park the chaos and just be.

This is my alarm clock. Not a reel, just the actual, unglamorous buzz that runs my life.

I share it because I want you to understand why those doors lock at 7pm sharp.

There will come a time, sooner than any of us are ready for, when we would trade everything we own for just one more hour. One more lazy morning. One more bedtime story. One more unfiltered laugh with family, across the dinner table.

So we ask ourselves, who are we spending our best hours on?

We know it might seem harsh. It might seem like bad business to turn you away at 7:01. But we’ve learned that using our time on people we don’t have to be with, you guys (that’s a joke, sorry) when we have people at home we absolutely do have to be with, is a trade we’re just not willing to make.

we’ve caught some flak for it. I’ve seen the feedback when we suddenly shutter up on a sunny afternoon to chase the kids around the park, or when we call it early because the tank is just empty. We get it, it’s inconvenient. But those afternoons in the park? They’re the memories that keep us going here.

We love making your coffee. Truly. But we love them more.

So here’s the deeply honest life in alarms. Thanks for being part of our day. Now please, go spend the rest of yours with the ones who matter most to you. ❤️

If the weathers amazing, check out times on Google, we may close early or take a few days off.

Welcome to the Ottoman Coffeehouse Head Dunk Challenge where the coffee is spectacular, the questions are brutal, and the consequences are wet.

We asked our team a few easy questions. Some were about history. Some were about you (our customers). And let’s just say… the water is getting dirty. 💦

This is just a sneak peek of the splash. Full video dropping soon where we expose the wrong answers and the shock on their faces.

Question for you: Would you survive this chair? 👀

A series of doors is life.

Run your palm across the grain.

Feel those grooves, every hand that has ever reached out for comfort, balance, a moment to catch their breath.

This door stood here for over a century. watched the Glasgow Society of Musicians pour their souls into these walls. Their melodies still trapped, applause still echoing in the silence, remembering the small, quiet things. The children who once ran through it, our children, their laughter bouncing off the stone. The sound of tiny feet. The chaos of family life. The beautiful, messy noise of being alive.

The silent moments. The lone soul leaning against it, staring up at the grey Glasgow sky, carrying a weight no one else could see. We’ve done that too. many times. When life pressed down on us, doubt, exhaustion, we’d step outside, close our eyes, and just lean.

When we took over in 2015, We will turn the key for a little while. The weight of this door in our hands every morning is a reminder. It has survived wars, celebrations, heartbreak, and rebirth. It’s been polished, scarred, beautiful and worn, just like us. And one day, we will pass through it for the last time, and it will still stand. Just as it did for people before us.

Next time you visit, Place your hand flat against the oak. Close your eyes. Think about who stood right there before. They had the same fears. The same desperate need for a warm corner to hide.

Think about the doors in your own life. Some terrify us. Some break our hearts. Some we cling to, praying they never close. Doors you knock on with hope, that slam behind, leaving you outside.

This door knows, you’re carrying more than you should. It knows you need a place where the world doesn’t get to reach you.

It offers you a quiet corner, and the silence you’ve been craving all day.

But may the heavy doors that burden you, slowly swing open with ease. the ones that frighten you reveal kindness, the ones you never want to leave, stay open a little bit longer.

Until then, this door is waiting. The coffee is brewing. And there is a seat here with your name on it.
