Please be seated – been a wee while since we showed off some furniture 🪑
Here’s one of our past collaborations with Adam Nathaniel Furman: the HK Furniture Collection. The forms of this chair came straight from Adam’s inspiration - a playful Japanese tale about Hitotsume-kozo.
As Adam put it: “For this collaboration, based on stories my grandfather would tell me about a little one-eyed boy who would jump out in the middle of the night and try to lick you.”
Turning that folklore into a chair pushed us to experiment with our materials, developing a method to heat and mould the surface onto a bent plywood substrate to create the curved seat back, casting it in a U-shaped channel to get those soft, rounded edges.
We built working prototypes of the collection and displayed them at the Design Exhibition Scotland showcase (swipe for the complete set) 👁️
