Weymouth. Portland Bill
7/10
My last cider, I promise.😉
Plum coloured which must indicate a darker apple juice?
Smooth and easy drinking as the festival leaflet promises.
Cider reviews finished until the next festival!

Cider...
Left to right...

Happy Daze
6½/10
A more traditional cider that is smooth and balanced.
I'm guessing they've balanced whatever apples they've used?
Very easy drinking.

Sandford. Blackberry
7/10
Blackberries balancing out the apples as promised.
Very easily drunk.

I should add there is only one more cider on my hitlist; namely Portland Bill.
If I don't find it, you'll hear nothing more from me on the cider front.😚

Loddon. Hullabaloo
7½/10

Not seen this ale for some 4 years.
A tad over chilled to begin with but after warming up - it's okay.
Not much change from 4 years ago.
All the proper ingredients harmonised but no specific taste coming to the fore.🤔

Hunts. Mango & Passionfruit
7½/10

I'm not a cider drinker but had to deviate away from the rather humdrum ales that have been on for what seems like forever.

This cider is very pleasant and at 3.4٪abv you're not going to lose control of your legs after 4 or 5 pints of it.
Not that I'm going to drink 4 or 5 pints of it.😏
No hint of apple or zesty lemon.

The Loch Lomond Sail Away festival ale was just going on as I ordered my half pint of this cider and I'll have to decide between a pint of that or a full pint of this easy drinking cider.

Decisions decisions!

East London. Foundation

Looked full of life but soon turned flat and lifeless with no body.
This beer should never have left East London.

Ilkley Ruby Jane 4%abv

Had this the other night
Had a few Ilkley Ales (Stouts and Porters) in the past but never in Wetherspoons.
Smooth flavour, fruity taste, but unfortunately not really up to scratch. Disappointing. Bland and ordinary.

Lymestone Cowboy
6/10
Lifeless and soul-less and expensive - all things considered.
Inoffensive and not over hoppy.
It's either been on for days or has been poorly managed in the cellar here as it just goes flat very quickly.

Broughton. Old Jock
8/10

Not quite the Old Jock of old in terms of abv, but abv shouldn't be the pinnacle of achievement.
I liked the Wee Jock of Old and the Old Jock (albeit in limited quantity).
Spey Valley are clearly trying to consolidate the branding and the beers.

I'm not sure if the double in the pump clip is double hopped or a double award winning beer?
What beers will be left after the rebranding exercise by Spey Valley?

If anybody from Spey Valley is reading this, please be aware that Broughton's initial bottled ale (Greenmantle) was distributed nationally and in cask form was sublime.
Get back to basics rather than try to fuse Wee Jock with Old Jock.

Great Yarmouth - Gorleston

Wolf. Black Wolf
6½/10

Lured to this slightly out of the way Spoons for this supposed blackcurrant flavoured Wolf beer.
A tenfold improvement on the Norwich Wolf beers.
Fresh on, but blackcurrrant heavily disguised.
Potentially sessionable...
