Prior to HOSPREP I spent many years running a Chinese takeaway.
The main equipment in traditional Chinese cooking is cooking with woks
Woks are brilliant. They allow chefs to cook quickly and at very high temperatures which creates the flavours that we all know and love
But woks aren’t non-stick so we have to season the wok with oil for every single meal. That's one of the reasons some Chinese dishes can contain more oil and calories than many people realise 😔
As Pamela and I are health conscious as she is a Personal Trainer we wanted to take the flavours we loved and
build them into meals that fit more easily into a healthy lifestyle.
We had to find other ways of creating tasty Chinese meals without the extra calories and oil..
Not because traditional cooking is wrong.
Just because we’re solving a different problem.
