Shish Mahal

The Shish Mahal Indian Restaurant’s fame among curry-loving Glaswegians is arguably unmatched, even in a modern city dining circuit which boasts some truly excellent exponents of the art of Indian cuisine. Some veteran Shish fans – who have been dining in the restaurant for three decades and counting – liked the style of dish they were served back in the 70′s so much that exactly the same items are still there on the menu, served in pretty much the same way they have always been.

The T-shirt has arrived 💜 Now it feels real.

I’m taking on the Cancer Research UK Shine Night Walk Half Marathon in Glasgow — 13.1 miles through the night — walking for Dad, our Shish Snobs, and everyone affected by cancer.

No hard sell. If you’ve already donated, thank you. If you’d like to support the walk, even a few pounds helps fund life-saving cancer research.

And if you can’t donate, a share, comment or bit of encouragement helps more than you think.

13.1 miles. One night. A very good reason to keep walking. 💜

Hey Shish Snobs...The T-shirt has arrived, so there’s no backing out now. 💜

I’ll be taking on the Cancer Research UK Shine Night Walk Half Marathon, walking for Dad and all Shish Snobs touched by cancer.

If you’ve already donated, a huge thank you. If you haven’t and would like to put a few pounds behind the miles, every donation helps fund research that matters.

And if donating isn’t possible, a share or a word of encouragement means just as much.

For Dad. For every Shish Snob touched by cancer. 💙

Cancer is affecting someone close to our family, and we know many members of the wider Shish Mahal community have faced this disease—or supported somebody they love through it.

Our Asif is taking part in a charity walk to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

His dad, our founder Ali Ahmed Aslam, did not die from cancer; we lost him to kidney disease. But helping others was central to who he was.

Years ago, Ali wrote a Shish Mahal cookbook and donated every penny of the proceeds to The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

Asif is walking to carry that spirit forward and to honour every family affected by cancer.

“The distance is secondary. Raising the money is the point.”

Shish Mahal will also be making a donation and supporting the campaign.

Please donate whatever you can—£5, £10, £20 or more. Every contribution will help make these steps count.

If you can’t donate, please share this appeal with somebody who may be able to help.

For Dad. For every Shish Snob touched by cancer. 💙

Today, Shish Mahal is asking our community to support Asif as he takes part in a charity walk to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

In Asif’s own words:

“Cancer is affecting someone close to our family, and we know that many members of the wider Shish Mahal community have also faced this disease—or supported somebody they love through it.

My dad, Ali Ahmed Aslam, did not die from cancer; we lost him to kidney disease. But helping other people was central to who he was.

Dad once wrote a Shish Mahal cookbook and donated every penny of the proceeds to The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice. He didn’t just talk about helping people. When he could do something, he did it.

I’m doing this walk to carry Dad’s spirit forward and to honour every family affected by cancer.

The distance is secondary. Raising the money is the point.”

As part of our longstanding charitable work, Shish Mahal will also be making a donation and supporting Asif’s campaign.

Please donate whatever you can genuinely afford. Whether it’s £5, £10, £20 or more, every contribution will help make these steps count.

If donating isn’t possible, please share this appeal with somebody who may be able to help.

For Dad. For every family facing cancer.
