CARTEL ARCHIVES: this sketch was done in the newly opened Shoreditch Pizza Pilgrims way back in 2017, and was essentially the front cover, financial projection, SWOT analysis and overall full outline of our business plan at the time. The talented managed to immortalise our conversation into this drawing, which now sits in pride of place in the shop. First thing we hung on the wall. “What’s your elevator pitch?” “THAT’S my elevator pitch!” (*slams napkin on desk) Wouldn’t recommend as a strategy for winning over investors, but will be a great scene in the Hollywood re-telling of how we got this thing going. Walked past that shop at the weekend, you can still feel the magic in the air even nine years later. Also, check the working-title: Wolf Peak. Wolf Peak Coffee Roasters. Hmmm 🤔

A trophy made of REAL GLASS which is pretty nice. We’re very happy to be named in the fifty best coffee shops in the UK for 2026 .uk ☕️ The shop is a total team effort across the business: our talented barista team and our talented roastery team working together to try and make your coffee experience as GOOD as possible. And you of course, the discerning client, you’re part of the team too. Anyone who visits us regularly and builds us into the routine of their week - we see you, ‘preciate you, love you. Thank you very much.

Also stoked to see so much Scottish representation in the top 50, we’re sharing the stage with some absolute hitters so it’s nice to get the nod and we don’t take it for granted.

NEW MENU ITEMS! The tiniest shard of sun, and an almost imperceptible rise in temperature means it’s time to roll out some more coldies on to the menu. Affogato with delicious locally made ice cream, espresso tonic, and of course the tastiest cold brew you’ve ever had. It’s a balmy 12 degrees outside so get your shorts on, block up and flip-flop down to try. Heck you can even sit in our coffee garden why not?☀️

TIME TO TAKE THE REFILL-UTION INTO YOUR OWN HANDS! In our mission to become net zero by the end of today we’ve decided to go completely cup free. No cups. Ever again. Didn’t you know your hands are completely refillable? This is a technique pioneered in the small district of L’ofol Paris where customers simply hold out their hands and request “une flat white s’il vous plait”. The coffee is poured straight in, and away they go. Over time customer’s hands have developed greater tolerance for hot temperatures (although I believe requests for extra hot are at an all time low). Better than that, it’s completely zero waste. Win win. Come and get yours today: just hold out your hands and say “no cup - fill ‘em up!”

SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT a.k.a appreciation post. Best doughnuts in the world. It’s on record. And it’s true. Fresh dough every day, hand rolled and fried fresh each morning - and banging flavours every time.

As well as the big bakery, Lynsey & Lisa have their two stores: west end and city centre - both serving up Bronco on espresso - and if you find yourself on the southside of a weekend then OF COURSE we’ve got you covered for DOH doughnuts and coffee.

The combo is so good we’ve actually had undercover cops from 1980’s police movies coming out of retirement JUST to do stakeouts fuelled by our coffee and their doughnuts: “they’re for my wife - she’s pregnant” that’s from Die Hard.

Anyway, do yourself a favour and go and get a coffee and a doughnut already!

Every now and then a coffee comes along that still surprises us and reminds us exactly why WE LOVE THIS GAME!

Lot 20, a Kenyan co-ferment making an early run for coffee of the year. Many of the farmers who deliver coffee to Lot 20 also grow oranges, so the team buys the extra fruit alongside the coffee, creating an additional income stream while opening the door to creative fermentation. The result is a distinctly modern take on Kenyan coffee—pushing beyond tradition while still showcasing the vibrant character the region is known for.

You can expect some big n’ juicy notes of orange zest, peach syrup and a warm hit of star anise 🍊🍑🍊🍑🍊

With the sun shining I might as well remind you we’re open til 5 every day (4 on Sundays) so come on down and chill with some Lot 20. Might even get in the garden, Kenya believe that ☀️

SPOTLIGHT: .gla

You don’t need me to be the millionth person to tell you how good Outlier is, so here’s a wee story instead...

In 2019 there was a charismatic guy who used to come and perch on the end of our bar, having coffees and chatting about his plans to create something really special on London Road. Coffee, bakery, brunch, gallery space, beers, wines, cocktails ok ok ok we’re in.

Over the following two years, Steven did a lot of the hard, quiet work that goes into making a place truly remarkable. He builds stuff. He taps away furiously on his cool little pad that looks like a tablet but isn’t a tablet, sketching out his plans and processes. And he had to put up with us winding him up from time to time “ah well at least you’ll be open in time for the next Olympics / what ridiculously expensive thing are you importing from Italy this week” etc etc all very hilarious I’m sure.

January 2022: the doors open and it’s an instant home run / touchdown / McTominay overhead kick (choose your sporting metaphor).

Outlier is a shining example of what happens when you stick to your vision and trust that if you keep at it, all will come good. Now they’ve recently turned 4 years old and have big plans in the mix for 2026. Can one of Glasgow’s hottest spots get even hotter? You watch.

Their coffee is an exclusive single-origin selected together with and ☕️ Everything is baked fresh in house, immaculate vibes and a very nice bunch at the wheel. Soundies. It’s tens across the board, go see for yourself.

Last pic: Nobody knows where these little Jesusy guys came from, they just appeared one day. Rumour has it if you look directly at them you will receive a thousand tiny blessings on your soul.
