You don’t need me to be the millionth person to tell you how good Outlier is, so here’s a wee story instead...
In 2019 there was a charismatic guy who used to come and perch on the end of our bar, having coffees and chatting about his plans to create something really special on London Road. Coffee, bakery, brunch, gallery space, beers, wines, cocktails ok ok ok we’re in.
Over the following two years, Steven did a lot of the hard, quiet work that goes into making a place truly remarkable. He builds stuff. He taps away furiously on his cool little pad that looks like a tablet but isn’t a tablet, sketching out his plans and processes. And he had to put up with us winding him up from time to time “ah well at least you’ll be open in time for the next Olympics / what ridiculously expensive thing are you importing from Italy this week” etc etc all very hilarious I’m sure.
January 2022: the doors open and it’s an instant home run / touchdown / McTominay overhead kick (choose your sporting metaphor).
Outlier is a shining example of what happens when you stick to your vision and trust that if you keep at it, all will come good. Now they’ve recently turned 4 years old and have big plans in the mix for 2026. Can one of Glasgow’s hottest spots get even hotter? You watch.
Their coffee is an exclusive single-origin selected together with and ☕️ Everything is baked fresh in house, immaculate vibes and a very nice bunch at the wheel. Soundies. It’s tens across the board, go see for yourself.
Last pic: Nobody knows where these little Jesusy guys came from, they just appeared one day. Rumour has it if you look directly at them you will receive a thousand tiny blessings on your soul.
