Sams Fowey Cornwall

17/10/2026

We are terribly sorry, but due to circumstances completely out of our control we have had to cancel all bookings today. Saturday 17th October.

The whole of Fore street has been without power, and it so affecting all businesses.

They will be digging up the road to rectify this as quickly as possible we are told.

Don’t forget there is Sam's On The Beach at Polkerris that maybe able to fit you in.
Ring Sam turner Manager on 01726 812255 or they maybe able to do takeaway Pizzas as we normally do.

Once again we are sorry that all of those who had booked tonight have had to be cancelled.
Hopefully see you tomorrow on Sunday.

That’s a big Blue Fin Atlantic Tuna caught locally 12 miles off St Austell bay by a licensed Tuna Fisherman.

After vanishing for decades, these massive apex predators now arrive every mid-summer through autumn to feed on abundant shoals of small fish like sardines and mackerel, creating an incredible marine recovery success story for southwest England with well managed fishing practices.

Licensing IS Managed via tightly regulated quotas and limited commercial or catch-and-release sport fishing licenses overseen by authorities like the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
Methods: Permitted strictly via sustainable rod-and-line techniques to protect the recovering stock.
Tuna disappeared for decades from our waters and now is back.
This is why sustainability of stocks is vital

Keep your eyes posted for Local Cornish Fresh Tuna dishes on the menu right now.
You think you know tuna ?
The new dishes will blow your mind. The taste is incredible.

THE SOLAR ECLIPSE
At Sam’s On The Beach, Polkerris tomorrow August 12th 2026 and enjoy a Sam’s Burger BBQ and Sundowners with CLASSICAL TUNES 🎶 for this incredible event OF NATURE. 🌘🌑🌒
Sam's On The Beach

Cornwall will take centre stage as one of the best places in the UK to witness a remarkable astronomical event and Polkerris is blessed as one of the places on the South Coast to witness this over the horizon.

A partial solar eclipse will see around 95% of the Sun covered by the Moon, making Cornwall one of the country’s prime viewing locations. Remember the unforgettable eclipse of 11 August 1999, when the Moon’s shadow swept across the county, briefly transforming daytime into an extraordinary twilight ?

Fowey estuary became calm the birds went quiet and yes we stood an egg on its end as the gravitational energy flipped it !

I was heavily pregnant with our daughter Eden who was supposed to arrive on that day - but arrived a week later thank you Eden 🧡for waiting a little longer.

Twenty-seven years (and one day) late we are here again with two of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles the Solar Eclipse and the Perseid meteor shower returns to dance in our skies. When to watch ☀️ 🌖 The eclipse will begin at 6:18pm

At the maximum at around 7:15pm for 1-2 minutes of 95-96% darkness, ⚫️

ending shortly after 8:10pm.But the performance isn’t over. Every August, treating those who look up to one of the year’s most spectacular displays of shooting stars, and this year it coincides with the solar eclipse. Two remarkable celestial wonders in a single day, making Cornwall an unforgettable place to experience nature’s greatest show. Please note the safety precautions to take whilst watching the Solar Eclipse and wear the correct eye wear.

Thankyou for finding us and dining with us Chris Haslam. Chief Travel Writer,

He gives us an inclusion of the best Beach eateries in The Uk in the Travel Section Tuesday July 07 2026

“I’ve found the UK’s best beach cafés from Cornwall to Co Antrim”

On his journey around the country’s finest stretches of sand, expert Chris Haslam Chief Travel Writer at the Times had his fair share of crab sandwiches, cake and tea by the sea — these were his top spots

“It was a wet walk along the muddy Saint’s Way from my campsite to Polkerris, where I found Sam’s on the Beach in the old lifeboat house. My joy at finding a café open at what, on our coast, is the ludicrously late time of 8.30pm was overshadowed by the fear that the kitchen, as they often do on our coast, had closed at 7.30pm, but it hadn’t, and dogs were welcome, and yes, there were wood-fired roasted sardines (£22) and oysters (one for £4.25) and scallops (£15) and bouillabaisse (£30) and b**r (samscornwall.co.uk)”
