Who has any stories about the ghost in the pub??

Yup. Apparently there is one.

👻

28/09/2026

Right.
Apparently, pubs are “too expensive.” 😬🥵💰

I hear it every day. 🤯

Usually from someone clutching a £6 artisan coffee, scrolling TikTok on a £1,200 phone, while explaining how £6 for a pint is daylight robbery. 💎

But sure. The pub is the problem. 👌

Let me explain this (again) slowly…

You’re not paying £6 for “b**r”! 🍺

You’re paying for an experience, for a community, for…

💸 The heating being on before you arrive.
💸 The lights staying on after you leave.
💸 The loos being scrubbed (you’re welcome).
💸 The glasses being washed.
💸 The staff being paid.
💸 The licences. The insurance. The rates. The TAX.
💸 The little bite the card machine takes every single time you tap.
💸 And the fact that when the cellar floods at 11pm on a Tuesday… it’s me in wellies.

You’re not just buying a drink. 🍷

You’re renting a space to exist in public without being moved on. To socialise. To make friends. To feel welcome. To belong. ❤️

Go and sit in the middle of ASDA for three hours debating VAR and see how long that lasts. Try getting banter from a self-checkout. 😅

Pubs aren’t competing with supermarket booze. 🛒

We’re competing with the idea that community should be free. 🏘️❤️

And here’s the bit I find fascinating…

The same people who mourn “the death of the British pub” are the ones who treat us like overpriced off-licences. 🍾

We don’t sell b**r. 🍺

We sell:
👉 First dates that turned into marriages.
👉 Wakes where the real stories came out.
👉 “Ok, just one” that became the best night of the year.
👉 Somewhere to decompress when the world’s had enough of you and you’ve had enough of the world.

We sell a place to not be alone. 🫂

If you want cheap: stay on your sofa with a four-pack of lukewarm cans 🛋️🥵🍻

But PLEASE don’t confuse low cost with value! 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, I’ll be over here - overcharging for heating, chairs, and human interaction. 🔥🪑🤗

Tag a mate who needs to stop being a tight-arse and buy a round! You know the one. 😂👇

FAQ; how can we help?

Ok. So how can you help??

Champion the cause💪🏻
It costs nothing and takes little time to champion the cause. Positivity, discussion and talking about the project brings it alive. Share posts, research your own ways to fundraise and purchase a community share as a group (remember it’s a 1 share 1 vote CBS)

Buy Community Shares: Purchase withdrawable shares to provide essential capital for the project. These shares are non-speculative and tied to the business's trade, meaning they prioritize social return over personal financial gain.

Fundraise to buy a share for your local group or club. Community share holders using the pub for meetings, events and socialising are key to the pubs trading future.

Volunteer Your Skills: Offer your professional expertise—such as accounting, marketing, legal advice, or project management—or help out at day-to-day community-led activities and events.

Support local fundraising events for the project.

Sponsorship/Partnership: develop a program for sponsorship or a partnership with us.
Companies, Tradesmen, Suppliers and Services can play a huge part in reducing outlay as we start to build relationships that provide benefit to all CBS shareholders.

If we’ve missed anything let us know.

We’d like to thank you all for your continued interest and support in the Queens Head Pub Community Project.

As our first campaign for community shares and private funding draws to a close this week, we would like to make sure everybody has had a chance to understand what’s involved and the huge potential a community run (CBS) project offers Foulsham and the surrounding areas.

We have received a staggering number of share pledges which is extremely encouraging and exciting for the project.

Don’t worry if you are unable to pledge for a share. We understand that a financial contribution is not an option for everyone. YOU CAN STILL BE A PART of the project. More importantly we will be relying on a team of volunteers to help in all areas and aspects of making the pub a central part of village life. Could you contribute time, skills, expertise and positive energy to help with ongoing fundraising.?

If you or somebody you know are interested in shaping the future of the last pub in Foulsham and haven’t yet registered your interest please e mail;

[email protected]

Please share as widely as you can and spread the word.

No wonder Paul is smiling - Grain has just been awarded Overall Champion Cask B**r at the East of England Indie B**r Competitions!

As well as Lignum Vitae picking up the top award, our Slate also received a Gold and Pilsener a Bronze.

Shout out to our brewers Marc and John - keep on making that cracking b**r.

Congrats to all the winners but a special mention to Ampersand Brew Co for winning Overall Champion in Keg. That’s a double win for the Waveney Valley - is it something in the water?
