Yesterday, two of our Highland heifers made the trip to Strontian for the Sunart & District Agricultural Show, placing 2nd and 3rd in the Highland Heifer class 🐂

A good day out supporting a local show and taking along a couple of the Highland cattle from here at Kingairloch.

Thanks to the Sunart & District Agricultural Society and everyone involved in organising the day. 🐂🐑

Discover Ardgour: The starting point on your journey to Kingairloch ✨
• Explore the Corran Narrows
Start at Corran Point Lighthouse and watch the ferry crossing one of the narrowest points on Loch Linnhe. It’s a fantastic spot for photography, sunsets and wildlife watching.
• Walk the Ardgour Lochans
Hidden between Corran and Clovullin is a network of woodland trails and lochans formed during the last Ice Age. These peaceful walks are ideal for families and offer excellent opportunities to spot birds and local wildlife.
• Hike Glen Gour, Glen Scaddle or C**a Glen
Ardgour is a walker’s paradise, with routes ranging from gentle glen walks to challenging mountain days. Glen Gour, Glen Scaddle and C**a Glen all showcase the area’s rugged beauty and remoteness.
• Visit Sallachan Beach
A quiet shoreline tucked away in Ardgour, perfect for a picnic, beachcombing or simply enjoying the views across Loch Linnhe. Keep an eye out for seals, porpoises and seabirds.
• Wildlife Watching
Ardgour’s mix of ancient woodland, mountains and coastline makes it one of the best places in Lochaber to spot red deer, wild goats, golden eagles and marine wildlife.
• Refuel with a View
Stop at Nomad Cafe near the ferry or enjoy lunch overlooking the loch at The Boathouse Restaurant. See respective pages for opening times.
Ardgour isn’t just a route to somewhere else—it’s a destination in its own right, packed with quiet beaches, ancient woodland, dramatic mountains and some of the most peaceful scenery in the Highlands. 🌿🏔️🌊

There’s something about Kingairloch that encourages you to slow down 🌿✨

Away from busy roads and crowded places, you’ll find space to breathe, listen, and simply enjoy the moment. Whether it’s watching the morning mist lift from the loch, hearing nothing but birdsong, or ending the day with a peaceful sunset over the hills, it’s a place where time seems to move a little more gently.

Sometimes the greatest luxury isn’t a packed itinerary, it’s the chance to switch off, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the quiet beauty of the West Highlands.

If you’re looking for a true escape, Kingairloch is waiting. 🌿✨

Wildlife at Kingairloch ✨🪺

By midsummer, the Northern Wheatear has settled into life at Kingairloch Estate, busily raising its young among the rocky hillsides and open grassland. Having travelled thousands of miles each spring, these remarkable little birds make the most of the long Highland days, taking advantage of the abundance of insects before beginning their incredible journey south again later in the season.

Often seen perched on rocks, drystone walls and fence posts, the Northern Wheatear is always alert, darting out to catch insects before returning to its favourite lookout. Although small in size, it’s one of nature’s great travellers, covering vast distances each year between its breeding grounds in the Scottish Highlands and its winter home in Africa.

If you’re exploring this summer, keep an eye out for these charismatic visitors and the many other species that call Kingairloch home.

If you spot any wildlife during your visit, we’d love to hear from you! Share your photos with us by emailing [email protected] ✨🌿
