Well… after an hour’s delay, the hardy few are finally rewarded as England v Mexico gets underway!

For a village where lights are usually out by about 9pm, Selling’s night owls are doing us proud!

The pints are poured, the seats are warm, and no one’s fallen asleep… yet.

🌙⚽ We've got quite a few night owls joining us for the football tonight!

If you'd like to be part of our very own fan zone, please book your seat by 3pm today.

We'll be closing as usual at 8pm, then reopening from midnight for booked guests only ahead of kick-off.

Well… it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster!

On Thursday, the Government announced that pubs can stay open until 5am on Monday morning for England’s Round of 16 clash with Mexico. Then came the rumours that the kick-off time might change. Will it? Won’t it? At the moment, it’s looking like it’s still 1am — but nobody seems quite sure!

So, our plan remains the same.

If enough of you book to join us, we’ll reopen at midnight on Sunday night and stay open until the final whistle.

If you’d like to watch the match with us, please book or let us know as soon as possible. We need enough interest to make opening through the night worthwhile.

A huge thank you to our close neighbours at Domaine Evremond and the Great Little Orchestra for a truly special evening yesterday.

Beautiful music, stunning views across the vineyard, excellent wine, delicious olives and great company – it was one of those evenings that simply came together perfectly.

If this is a taste of what's to come, we can't wait for the next one - they're planning a programme of concerts, including some very special Christmas-themed evenings, and we'll certainly be keeping an eye out.

Well done to everyone involved – a wonderful evening. 🍾🎻

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Good news, England fans!

With the licensing laws now being relaxed for Monday’s England match, we’re able to stay open and serve throughout the game.

Our plan is to close at 8pm on Sunday as usual, then reopen at midnight (provided we have enough bookings) and stay open until the final whistle.

We’ll make the final decision around lunchtime on Sunday, so if you’d like to join us, please reserve your seat before then.

Pyjamas are entirely optional… football shirts are encouraged! ⚽🍻

A new month means another White Lion newsletter... and we've packed July with plenty to look forward to.

We've rounded up everything we've got planned this month, from football and live music to supper club, seasonal food, quizzes and more.

Luke Wright is always a firm favourite at The White Lion, and we were lucky enough to see his performance of Later Life Letter at this year’s Faversham Literary Festival

I’ve spent the past few months working on a documentary with my favourite producer Faith Lawrence. Faith and I worked on a documentary about Father Christmas a couple of years ago and she produced the episode of The Verb I hosted. This time the subject matter is a more personal. This preview in the none other than the Radio Times sums it up quite well. I won’t give away the surprise at the end but I will say that also featured are my wife and my mum, so it’s a Wright family affair. Tune in this Sunday at 7.15 on BBC Radio 4

Well… England v Panama gave us a few moments, didn’t it? The pundits may be getting twitchy, but we’re still in it — and the next one is definitely not to be missed.
