A little update from week three of owning the iconic village butchers shop.
As we head into our THIRD Saturday since taking over the butcherâs shop, I thought Iâd do a little end-of-week round-up of what weâve been up to.
You may have noticed that our artist and signwriter, Mike from Sunnybank Mills, has started hand-painting the front of the shop. Over the next couple of weeks itâll all come together with our traditional hand-painted signs, and we honestly canât wait to show you the finished result. We hope you like it. This shop belongs to the community after all â weâre just its custodians.
Monday saw the team head off on a training course with a top chef and butcher, learning new ideas for meal kits, flavour combinations and some seriously exciting products. Trust me, there are some incredible things heading to the counter over the next few weeks.
Itâs been another absolutely crazy few days, with loads more new faces coming through the door to try what weâre doing. Thank you if youâve popped in to see us.
đ„§ Pork pie sales went bonkers! Probably helped by the giant pork pie Sarah painted on the window. It does look pretty good, doesnât it?
đ„ The Korean ribs flew out. I even took some home for my tea. Five hours in the slow cooker with half a cup of water, served with chips and coleslaw. Unreal.
đ§ The Garlic & Pepper Rump Steak Kebabs disappeared as fast as we could make them! Weâll definitely be making plenty more for tomorrow.
đź The Mexican Beef Stir Fry was another big hit this week.
đ„© We must have heard, âGot any of those Tomahawks left?â about a hundred times. I think we might need a bigger steak fridge!
đ We also introduced gluten-free sausages, because everyone deserves a proper sausage.
đ And we launched the Fire & Smoke Burger â a 100% steak burger with garlic, salt and pepper. No rusk. Just proper beef with the right amount of fat.
I genuinely donât think I had a day off this week⊠but I wouldnât have it any other way.
A huge shout-out as well to Silvers Bakehouse, who grabbed a load of our ham hocks and turned them into an absolutely ridiculous focaccia. It looked incredible.
Finally, a massive thank you to our team. Nige, Andi and Lynn looking after everyone out front, while Tezza, Steve and Marcus have been working flat out in the back chopping, cutting and making sausages.
Seeing a traditional butcherâs shop busy and thriving on the high street is something really special. The chats, the laughs and the support from the community mean everything to us.
Living the best life in Farsley.
Thanks, everyone.
