Falmouth and the Songs of the Sea⚓🌊🎶
Cornwall, 1805

Young sailor Thomas Grey was preparing to leave Falmouth on his first long voyage during the Napoleonic Wars. The night before departure, he heard sailors singing sea shanties in the harbor taverns.
An old captain told him, “Shanties are more than songs. They carry the memories of sailors who never returned from the sea.”
Days later, Thomas’s ship was caught in a fierce storm in the Bay of Biscay. As the crew struggled to save the vessel, the boatswain began singing a shanty. One by one, the sailors joined in, working together to the rhythm of the song until the storm finally passed.
Weeks later, when the ship safely returned to Falmouth, Thomas heard the same shanty being sung on the harbor front. Then he understood: these songs were not just music—they were a living link between generations of sailors.

Even today, during the annual Sea Shanty Festival in Falmouth, those old songs continue to echo across the harbor, keeping the spirit of the sea alive. ⚓🌊🎶

🌿 Maundy Thursday before Easter was always different.
Even the air was thicker then… as if filled with someone’s breath, someone’s warmth still lingering between the walls.
Once upon a time there were two women in this house.
Mom and grandma.
Grandma sat, wrapped in a scarf, and looked at mom as if she remembered her every move.
— “Daughter… don’t rush…” she whispered.
— “Easter cake is not bread… it’s the soul…”
Mom was silent.
Only her hands worked – quickly, habitually, but somehow carefully… as if she was afraid of breaking something.
As if more depended on this dough than just a festive table.
I didn’t understand then. And now I understand.
When mom put the Easter cakes in the oven, grandma got up, went over… and crossed herself over each one.
And she said:
— “Maybe… it’s my last one..”
I remember that moment.
I remember - and I still can’t forget it. Now… it’s quiet. There’s no grandmother or mother.
There’s only me, my sister, the children, and Maundy Thursday.
The process and traditions are unchanged, and you can always hear grandma’s voice, her own, quiet voice:
— “Don’t rush…”
I close my eyes — and I see them.
Grandma… sitting and watching.
Mom… kneading the dough.
And when I take out the Easter cake… hot, alive, I whisper through my tears:
— “Mom… it turned out…”
— “Grandma… I remember…”
Because it’s not just bread.
This is love that never dies. 💞

Friends, our relatives and loved ones 💞💐
Easter is always about home... about warmth, about peace and about those moments that we cherish in our hearts since childhood.
Do you remember how our grandmothers baked Easter cakes? How the house smelled of vanilla, raisins and fresh dough from the very morning... How they walked quietly so that "the Easter cake would not fall", how they covered the dough with a towel and waited for a miracle...
There was so much love, care and a real holiday in these simple moments ✨
It is these memories that we revive in each of our Easter cakes. We bake the way we used to - with warmth, patience and sincere love.
📝🔥Orders for our homemade Easter cakes are already open - for April 5 and April 11.
We will be happy to prepare for you exactly those Easter cakes that will become part of your holiday table and give you a feeling of home 💛
Write to Direct 💌
With love, care and a piece of my soul for you.
