The role: Commis Chef / Kitchen Prep

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking Commis Chef to join our kitchen team.

This is a hands-on role supporting the kitchen team with the preparation and service of our Italian menu. The ideal person will enjoy working in a busy kitchen, take pride in what they do and be keen to learn and develop their skills.

Key responsibilities

* Preparing ingredients and food items ready for service
* Preparing starters, salads, sauces and other menu components
* Preparing vegetables, meats and other ingredients as required
* Following recipes and portion-control guidelines
* Assisting the Chef during busy service periods
* Ensuring food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard
* Keeping preparation areas, equipment and kitchen surfaces clean and organised
* Following food hygiene, health & safety and allergen procedures
* Correctly storing and labelling food and maintaining stock rotation
* Helping with deliveries and putting stock away when required
* Supporting the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

* Reliable and punctual
* Hardworking and able to work at pace
* Organised and able to follow instructions
* Passionate about food and interested in developing their kitchen skills
* Comfortable working as part of a small team
* Able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
* Calm and positive during busy services
* Previous professional kitchen experience is preferred, but we will consider someone with the right attitude and a willingness to learn

The role

Position: Commis Chef / Kitchen Prep
Location: Gambero Rosso, Falkirk
Hours: Wed-Fri 10.30-2.30 then 5pm-9pm; Sat-Sun 10.30-9pm
Rate of pay: DoE
Contract: Full-time/Permanent

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their experience in a friendly, busy Italian restaurant and become an important part of our kitchen team.
