One thing i always

Today I received a beautiful card from Lesley and Megan, Sheila’s family, wishing Oak & Honey every success.

Sheila was a very special and regular customer of mine during my time at Allotment Café. Over the years, we built a wonderful friendship, and she always had a special place in my heart.

Receiving this card from her family means more than I can put into words. I truly believe Sheila would be looking down with a big smile, seeing Oak & Honey finally open and welcoming our guests.

Thank you, Lesley and Megan, for such a thoughtful and heartfelt gesture. It means the world to me.

I’m back!

I’ve been a little quiet at The Allotment Cafe over the last couple of weeks while I’ve been busy with my new restaurant, but please don’t worry — I’m not going anywhere!

I’ve been so touched to hear that people have been asking where I am, missing me, and even worrying that I might leave the café. 🥹❤️

Then I received these beautiful cards, including a very special handwritten note from one of my lovely customers over 7 years!!! It honestly means more than you know.

The Allotment Cafe is so much more than a business to me. It’s our little community, and you are all a huge part of it.

So, just to reassure you — I’m here, I’m back, and I’m definitely not leaving!

Aye, Westminster. Yer table’s ready.

After extensive consultations, several cups of tea, and absolutely Nae political experience whatsoever, I am delighted to announce my appointment as the UK’s Next Prime Minister, aye.

My key policies include:
1- Free biscuits with every meeting, nae bother
2- A four-day work week (five-day weekends under review, sounds pure dead brilliant)
3- National appreciation day for kilts, because why no?4- More sunshine, somehow — we’ll gie it a bash

I would like to thank the people In FALKIRK for their overwhelming support, despite not actually voting for me, cheers lads.

Cabinet positions will be awarded based on who makes the best cup of tea — dinnae mess it up.

Inspired by the warmth, elegance, and welcoming atmosphere of Oak & Honey, our new restaurant will combine beautiful surroundings with a relaxed and comfortable dining experience.

Our vision is simple: to create a place where everyone feels at home. A place where families, friends, and visitors can gather to enjoy classic dishes, comforting favourites, and quality food at affordable prices.

While trends come and go, we believe that great comfort food never goes out of style. That’s why our menu will celebrate timeless classics, generous portions, and dishes made with care, all served in an elegant yet welcoming setting.

This new venture is our way of investing back into the community that has supported us throughout the years, and we cannot wait to welcome you through our doors.

Hello lovely people ❤️

I have two ladies’ bikes that I’d like to give away free of charge.

🚲 Electric bike – the bike is in excellent condition and has barely been used. Unfortunately, I bought the wrong replacement battery, so it will need a new battery, which can be ordered separately. The original battery has been sitting at home, and the bike has hardly been out, so it’s basically brand new.

🚲 Standard bike – a comfortable ladies’ bike with gears, easy to ride and in good condition.

If you or someone you know could make use of either bike, please get in touch.

Of course, they are completely free, but if anyone would like to make a small donation, it would be very welcome as I plan to donate money to Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity. As many of you know, I have a big soft spot for helping children ❤️🙏🏼

Spring Menu 2026

Our aim has always been to create an affordable menu and a comfortable dining experience for everyone in our community.

We are not interested in becoming millionaires — our priority is giving people real value for their money and creating a welcoming place where memories are made.

When I first took over the café, former Centre Managers Suzanne Arkinson and Margaret Foy asked me, “What’s your goal?”
My answer was simple:
“To create a destination café where memories are created.”

Hospitality is full of challenges. Rising food prices, taxes, staff costs, national minimum wage increases, supplier costs, and even equipment breakages all make things harder every year.

Despite this, we will always try our best to keep our pricing fair and affordable for everyone. We believe there is no point in taking people’s money if it leaves them struggling.
