🎉 Fantastic news to see Guy and Geetie Singh-Watson named by the The Independent on their Climate 100 list - a 'list of the world's leading environmentalists.' 🎉

This is what the paper had to say:

"Between them, Guy and Geetie Singh-Watson have spent decades challenging the idea that sustainability and commercial success are incompatible. Guy founded Riverford, turning a single field of organic vegetables into one of Britain’s best-known veg box businesses, which has been employee-owned since 2018. This year he celebrates four decades of farming.

"Geetie founded the UK’s first certified organic pub, the Duke of Cambridge in London, in 1998. Now she has four organic pubs, with the latest addition The Bull Inn in Totnes, Devon, in 2019. Together with the Sustainable Restaurant Association and the Apricot Centre (a nearby biodynamic farm), the pub has launched a qualification in regenerative and sustainable hospitality which Guy lectures on and is held at Guy and Geetie's Devonshire farm.

The wonderful Helen Rowan Photography has issued a challenge so it would be rude not to, especially when she takes the best pictures (see above!)

So things I love;

🛼working hard - I need a certain amount of pressure to do my best work but constantly need to reign that in (after 14 years of self-employment that work-life balance can sometimes feel like a pipe-dream but I am working on it). I am finally so proud of the business we have created - always WIP but we have heart and soul and it shines through.

🌍 Owning my values - at 56 I know that how we do business, who we work with, our attitude to reducing waste and making ethical choices, where profit is most definitely not the driving motive, is just what we do.

🌳 Being in nature makes me happy (ideally with my paws) and creates much needed headspace for whatever is going on in my world and the world (😳). If there’s a cafe stop en route happy days!

🧶I love making things, woolly projects, bakes, my garden. Simple acts of creating something that give so much joy!

📣Women in business - I definitely found my tribe - the community of female founders I’m part of is a source of knowledge, shared experience & generosity, and a firm commitment to doing better business - thankyou Emily Whitehead 🩷 Simply Club Mary Portas OBE Holly Tucker MBE for championing small businesses without whom our communities would be much poorer. I realise increasingly how passionate I am about this and the need to shout our value to the economy from the rooftops!

My family; the why in having a business - it was only really feasible to work for myself to create the flexibility for our family and our utterly brilliant kids. They are the best. This Summer I became a Granny and that is a whole other thing. 🧡

Finally - I have a love-hate relationship with insta- love the visual inspiration and beauty it can show, even at times shared values and community. When you’re having too much fun chatting to remember to take any pictures…📚

We absolutely loved our first book club evening, lovely company, plenty of chatting and a new book club exclusive alcohol-free drinks menu.

And we couldn’t let the evening go by without a little nod to the book itself… freshly made peach crumble muffins, inspired by the muffins mentioned in our story. 🍑
