As summer draws to a close and autumn begins to colour the Estate, our bees are preparing for the quieter months ahead.

At this time of year, our beekeepers are busy checking the health and strength of the colonies, making sure each hive has sufficient stores for winter and carrying out essential seasonal care. With fewer flowers available, activity around the hives gradually slows as the bees focus on protecting their queen and conserving their precious resources.

We’re eagerly awaiting the delivery of this year’s Lympstone Manor Estate honey, produced from the nectar gathered by our bees from flowers and plants across the Estate and surrounding landscape.

A wonderful taste of the season, and another reminder of the important role our bees play in the biodiversity of Lympstone Manor.

Our nature walks have become a popular way to experience the wildlife and beautiful surroundings of the Exe Estuary throughout the seasons.⁠

Our next walk takes place on Tuesday 6th October, when local Countryside Manager James Chubb will lead a morning of birdwatching, discovering the winter visitors returning to the estuary and the remarkable wildlife found on our doorstep.⁠

Afterwards, retreat to the warmth of the Pool House for a relaxed three-course lunch, accompanied by a glass of Lympstone Manor Estate Classic Cuvée.⁠

A little taste of Lympstone Manor, made right here on the estate.

Our bees have been part of life at Lympstone Manor since 2018, and at this time of year the hives are especially busy as we begin the annual honey harvest.

Produced from the flowers and planting across the estate, our honey is a true reflection of its surroundings. It makes its way from hive to kitchen, where it is used by our chefs, and into jars for guests to take home and enjoy.

It is one of the many small ways the landscape around us finds its way onto the table - seasonal, local and very much part of life at Lympstone Manor.

We are awaiting the delivery of this year's estate honey and it will be available to purchase during your visit.
