Antonio’s Journey
My family’s origins lie in the foothills of the Abruzzo Mountains in southern Italy where my mother Maria grew up in the small rural town of Capistrello, around 50 miles from Rome. Like many Italians in the post second world war period my mother emigrated from the poverty of southern Italy to a new life in England in 1960. She arrived in Sidmouth with a family of Italians who ran firstly a fish and chip shop and latterly a sea front café where I started working in the summer holidays when10 years old! Antonio’s in Exmouth will focus on the very best of Italian food and drink. In particular what

Italy is renowned for the world over – ice cream and coffee. My Italian ice cream or ‘Gelato’ is hand crafted to authentic Italian recipes. The coffee you drink is roasted and blended in Vicenza, Italy to give the perfect Espresso. Capistrello in the Abruzzo region of Italy
