We do not have a TV, fruit or quiz machines, 'piped' / pre-recorded music, jukebox or other distractions. We do, however, have a cozy atmosphere, great beers, regular live music and a warm welcome that'll make you feel like you've been a regular for years, even if it's your first visit.

A reminder that there's no open mic tonight, Thursday 1st October, and we'll be closing at 9:30pm. Back to happy normality next week.

The Mop Fair returns to Evesham on Thursday 1st October. We’ll therefore have no open mic on Thursday, and no live music on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. We’ll also be closing early — 9:30pm Thursday–Saturday, and 7:00pm on Sunday.

We’ve tried our best in previous years, but the noise of the rides and treatment of our toilets as public use (no additional toilet facilities are provided by the Fair organisers) interfere too much for it to be enjoyable for either the musicians or the audience.

With the Fair’s extension to Sunday, which historically has been a busy afternoon for us, when our regulars return to the pub after the Mop's departure, it’s simply not worth trying to put on music, or to stay open later into the night.

On Monday 5th October, we’ll be open as usual from noon–11pm, with our weekly acoustic jam taking place from 8pm.

Last call for quiz entrants for our big 'Harvest Quiztival', this Wednesday 30th September — our autumn grand quiz, which we've moved, along with a bar, into All Saints Church as there's not enough room in the pub! We're pretty much always fully-booked for our monthly quizzes, and have to have smaller teams in the pub, so it's great opportunity to get a few friends together for a night of trivia, laughter, and great food.

We'll need to close entries on Sunday night to make sure Rob can get his famous curry ready for you in time.

Money raised will go to the Almonry Restoration Project, to help preserve and protect one of Evesham's oldest and most iconic buildings.

Enter online, reply below, or drop us an email: [email protected] to secure your place. Teams of up to eight.

We've just pushed out an update to our 'Real ALErts' service, which sends you an email when b**rs from your favourite breweries appear on the bar.

It occurred to us that, as we're constantly finding new breweries to buy b**r from, you might not have not included some of the more recent ones in your settings, so now every email you get will list any breweries you don't hear about. You also now have the option to just get notified about any b**r from any brewery.

If you'd like to sign up for free, or adjust your settings if you're already registered, go here:

Last year's hops have seen out their service, and are off to the great compost heap in the sky (actually, to an allotment a short stroll from the pub). Spilsbury & Jones Brewing Company have spent the year growing beautiful fresh ones, mainly for b**r, but they've kindly spared us a few bines, along with today's delivery of Tom Jones l***r. These are Harlequin, a variety developed by Charles Faram & Co Ltd, with a delicious, delicate aroma, which fills the pub.

The pub is adorned and green again, more b**r will be brewed, more b**r will be sold, the allotment will be well-composted, and more well-composted courgettes (other vegetables are available) will be found in the pub courtesy of the green-fingered Bill and Mick. The circle is complete, and continues.

A familiar face, but a new role for Meg Scane, who is in charge of tonight's open mic, Thursday 24th September. 8pm start: we'll have the usual kit set up, the usual warm and friendly welcome, and the usual drink for performers. No backing tracks, please. Come along and give Meg a big Red Lion welcome, and maybe play a few songs if you fancy.
