I’d like to thank everyone for their support and kind messages following my earlier post.

I’m pleased to say the gentleman who placed the order has since contacted me, came into the shop, apologised in person and paid the bill in full. It turns out he’d had one too many drinks, went to the wrong chip shop to collect his order and ended up ordering there instead! He was genuinely apologetic, and it sounds like his family won’t be letting him forget it any time soon.

Mistakes happen, and it takes an honest person to put them right. His actions have restored my faith in the honesty and kindness of our local community.

Thank you once again to everyone for your support—it really is appreciated.

Unfortunately, this evening we received a telephone order for 10 fish & chips just before closing time. The caller gave the name Darren and said they were from West Stockwith, but unfortunately they never arrived to collect or pay. As a result, the food had to be thrown away.

This is very unusual for our village, and we’re disappointed that it happened.

We kindly ask that if anyone places a large order close to closing time, they are prepared to collect it promptly. We may ask for prepayment or a deposit for large telephone orders in the future.

Thank you to all of our genuine customers for your continued support and understanding.
