Today is a very sad one for my family links to The Happy Man Pub. For many years the pub has provided a hub for the community of Englefield Green where locals could come together and share stories and life experiences over a pint at the bar, but last orders are now being called and the pub doors will now close for the foreseeable future.
In recent times, the ever increasing costs of running the business have made it impossible to support my family on what little profit remains each week despite all my best efforts and that of my brilliant hard working and loyal staff, but end it must.
My days as Landlord are now over but hopefully the brewery will find a way of keeping the Happy Man trading on Harvest Road, time will tell.
Thank you to everyone who has visited and enjoyed the pub atmosphere over the years, the quiz nights, the beer festivals, the fancy dress nights and the live sporting events in the beer garden, there are lots of great memories to take away.
Life moves on.
