After 12 incredible years, the time has come for us to close the doors on Lilybetts Catering, and it is with incredibly mixed emotions that we share this news with you all.
What started as a dream in a home kitchen in Ellesmere Port has grown into something far beyond anything we ever imagined.
We battled through Covid โ pivoting, adapting, and coming out the other side stronger and prouder than ever. We've catered hundreds of weddings, parties, celebrations and corporate events.
We've been named North West Caterer of the Year at the English Wedding Awards, and runners-up nationally at The Nation's Wedding Awards. We've had the privilege of being part of some of the most important days of so many people's lives, and that will stay with us forever.
But the landscape has changed beyond what we can sustain. Increased government charges and employer costs have made it harder and harder for small independent businesses like ours to operate viably. Changes in the way local venues now operate have further reduced the opportunities available to independent outside caterers.
And when a major structural issue with our premises became the final nail in the coffin, we knew the time had come. We won't turn this into a political statement โ but we'd be less than honest if we didn't acknowledge that the environment for small businesses right now is incredibly tough, and we are far from alone.
To our amazing team โ past and present โ and to our families who have supported us every step of the way without question, thank you.
To our customers, who have supported us, reviewed us, recommended us, and celebrated with us for 12 years โ from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Lilybetts may be closing, but the memories we made together will last a lifetime. ๐
