A Little (maybe long ๐) Message About Fish Pricesโฆ ๐ฃ
We know we will have the odd comment about price changes on Fish, so we wanted to explain why they have risen.
Just before Covid, we were paying ยฃ180 for a box of cod. This week, that same box has risen again from ยฃ320 to ยฃ360.
Years ago, we might have increased our prices once a year by around 5p/10p. Now, weโre having to increase them several times a year by 50p or even ยฃ1 just to keep up with rising costs. Itโs not something we ever want to do. We put it off as late as we can but our suppliers leave us with no other option.
We know a Chippy Tea was always known as a cheap meal but like you see everywhere, nothings โcheapโ anymore. Also not forgetting how dangerous of a job the fishermen have to do for it.
Weโre committed to serving the same high quality fish and chips that you expect, and always offer a lot more than just Fish on our Menu. All Chip Shops around the UK are suffering the same and a lot closing down because of this.
We just wanted to be honest about what is happening as I know some people might not understand it can be the higher up effecting small family businesses. Thank you for reading this and also for supporting us over the past 20+ years in Egremont. Hopefully, things get that little bit better and easier for us all ๐ค๐ผ๐ค
