Near the Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh University Old College and the Law Courts...the café is a bone's throw from the statue of Edinburgh's celebrated faithful pet dog, "Greyfriars Bobby". Once part of Traill's Temperance Hotel, Bobby's contains the former archway for coaches entering Greyfriars Kirkyard. There is no subway in central Edinburgh, but there is an excellent public bus service run

by Lothian Region Transport. Maroon LRT buses on routes number
2, 23, 27, 35, 37, 41, 42, 45 and 67 stop near Bobby's Sandwich Bar. When you get here, enjoy your snack and watch the passing scene at this junction of five historic architectural streets: Forrest Road, Bristo Place, Chamber Street, Candlemaker Row and George IV Bridge. Choose from our tasty range of sandwiches on chilled shelves ready to buy. The menu has a global reach reflecting the tastes of today's adventurous and well-travelled consumer. Enjoy them here with FREE WiFi, or carry out. We can do a special just for you, adding or leaving out, changing the bread, tweaking it to your taste. We have a blackboard loaded with ideas. A muscular steel sandwich toaster has been added to the equipment to toast your choice to crispy perfection. THE KNACK OF THE SNACK
A snack is a a well-rounded and balanced meal if you pick well: solid food and hydrating beverage and soup; roughage and vitamins; sweet and savoury; fruit and veg; protein as meat, fish or cheese; and a small sugary treat to reward yourself. It'll all fit in a neat Bobby's brown paper carrier bag. "Eat Well" is Bobby's motto. PS: for visitors looking for an artistic souvenir, we stock several souvenir postcards of Edinburgh and Greyfriars Bobby by Ryoko Tamura, a young Japanese graphic designer working in Edinburgh.
